About Indus Action Indus Action's mission is to enable the disadvantaged gain access to legislated rights sustainably, in India. Our first action is to create a breakthrough in inclusive education. We achieve this in collaboration with progressive state governments and a network of partner and community entrepreneurs. We are led by a world-class team and an international Board. India's Right to Education Section 12(1)(c) law mandates unaided, private schools reserve 25% of their entry grade seats to children belonging to socially or economically disadvantaged families. Essentially, due to this law, more than 11 million families now have a choice of selecting high-quality private schools across India in the next five years. India's Right to Education law grants free access to high-quality private schools to economically and socially disadvantaged children. However, national seat fill rate is only ~20 percent. Indus Action has till 2019, enabled 227,000 students in less than 5 years, with 84% fill rate in our areas of operation. By 2020, we aim to enrol 1million children and are well on course to achieve the goal. By saving ~1L in tuition fees, families save 12% of their annual income. This yielded Rs 320 crore savings per every year thus far. We are able to deliver this impact at a marginal cost (Rs 350 per child). We are looking for talented and motivated professionals in our Technical team who will have the opportunity to solve some of the critical problems that are impediments to implementation of legislated rights in India today. Position Summary Over the years, our tech products have become integral to scaling our impact, helping us reach out to over 5 lakh beneficiaries across 18 states. We also directly work with governments to implement policies in which the core objective is to provide technical support for building the end-to-end MIS systems for the states we are operational in. We are looking for an individual who will help visualize, develop and implement solutions that will take the implementation of legislated rights to the next level. This individual will also be the primary point of contact with the larger Tech4Dev community, which is a network of Indian NGOs using open source solutions for social impact. Responsibilities Development1.1 Focus 40% of energy, in actual development, with the Frontend and Backend Leads and their subteams. Infrastructure2.1 Define the architecture of all new products2.2 Monitor platforms and services used by all applications2.3 Setup the continuous integration pipeline, for the FE/BE, Lead to operate with, so that the code merges initiate automatic test cases and the final push to deployment. Review3.1 Provide feedback and final approval to the development and testing frameworks, being used by the FE/BE Lead.3.2 Approve the final pull requests for features/bugs and ensure their deployment into the relevant server.3.3 Code Review of repositories shared by external vendors3.4 Provide critical feedback on the design being used by the FE/BE teams. Also, set up the initial architecture for the teams to build their architecture on.3.5 Review selection and performance of technology partners/vendors.
