Role Overview
We’re looking for an Engineering Lead who thrives in a dynamic, hands-on environment. You’ll work closely with the founders, define our technology roadmap, and guide a small but high-performing engineering team. You’ll have the freedom to select the right technologies, shape the architecture, and streamline processes—ensuring rapid feature delivery, system reliability, and an outstanding product experience. Key Responsibilities
Technology Strategy & Architecture:
- Define and execute a long-term technical vision aligned with business goals, adjusting quickly as we learn and grow.
- Architect and maintain a scalable, reliable system using Python/Django (backend), JS/React & React Native (frontend), AWS (cloud), and MySQL/Elasticsearch (databases).
- Implement DevOps and CI/CD best practices for continuous delivery and rapid iteration.
Hands-On Leadership & Culture:
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a lean engineering team, setting a high standard for technical excellence and accountability.
- Remain hands-on in coding and problem-solving to stay close to the product and the team’s daily challenges.
- Foster a nimble, experimentation-driven culture—where everyone collaborates closely and delivers real user value quickly.
Rapid Execution & Continuous Improvement:
- Release features at speed, using agile methodologies to remove bottlenecks and refine development processes.
- Uphold quality standards—maintain uptime, minimize bugs, and address technical debt early.
- Quickly identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring stability as we scale.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication:
- Work with product, sales, marketing, and customer success teams to prioritize initiatives that deliver measurable impact.
- Translate complex technical topics into clear insights for non-technical stakeholders, ensuring transparency and trust.
Key Performance Indicators
- Engineering Velocity: Accelerate feature delivery and iteration cycles.
- Quality & Reliability: Maintain a stable, bug-free platform that customers love.
- Scalability & User Engagement: Support growth, enhance user satisfaction, and boost conversions from trials to paid customers.
Qualifications
- 6-8 years of software engineering experience, including 2-3+ years leading teams of 10+ engineers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering from a top-tier institution (IIT or equivalent preferred).
- Proven success building and scaling marketplace platforms at fast-growing companies
- Expertise in Python/Django, JS/React, React Native, AWS, MySQL/Elasticsearch, and DevOps/CI/CD.
- Entrepreneurial mindset (founder/co-founder experience a plus), capable of thriving with minimal guidance.
- Excellent communication, adaptability, and problem-solving skills suited to a fast-paced, early-stage environment.
