Software Engineer / Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

At Egnyte we develop content governance and collaboration products that are deployed across several large companies such as Yamaha and Red bull. The Egnyte platform supports daily, business critical operations for a million-plus user base interacting with a multi-petabyte content set.

We store, analyze, organize, and secure billions of files and petabytes of data with millions of users. We observe more than 1M API requests per minute on average. To make that possible and to provide the best possible experience, we rely on great engineers. For us, people who own their work from start to finish are integral. Our Engineers are part of the process from design to code, to test, to deployment, and back again for further iterations.  

We’re looking for Senior Software Engineers and he should be able to take a complex problem and work with product managers, devops and other team members to execute end to end.

Specific Responsibilities will include:

• Design and develop scalable cloud components that seamlessly integrates with on-premises systems.
• Challenge and redefine existing architecture or make 10x improvements in performance and scalability.
• Ability to foresee post-deployment design challenges, performance and scale bottlenecks.
• Hire and mentor junior engineers
• Doing code reviews, unit and performance testing of the code.
• Monitor and manage 3000+ nodes using modern DevOps tools and APM solutions.

The successful candidate will need:

• Demonstrated success designing and developing complex cloud based solutions
• Solid CS fundamentals with one or more areas of deep knowledge
• Experience with the following technologies: Java, SQL, Linux, Python, Nginx, Haproxy, BigQuery, HBase, New Relic, memcache, Elasticsearch, docker.
• Data driven decision process
• Relies on automation testing instead of manual QA
• Experience in working with Google cloud, AWS or Azure is preferred

We would prefer the candidate work from our Mumbai office for alteast first 6 months.

Developer – Golang 

Responsibilities: 

• An individual contributor who will be part of the Software R&D team working on the following areas 

• Backend work in Golang, Micro services architecture 

• Work with internal team and customers to deliver solutions that will meet the customer needs with respect to the performance security, scalability and functionality. 

• Implementation of API and authentication methods using JWT 

• Writing scalable, robust, testable, efficient, and easily maintainable code 

• Translating software requirements into stable, working, high performance software 

Skills 

• 2-5 years of experience in Go programming language 

• Strong experience in working with Goroutine and channel patterns 

• Experience in Go framework for DB, JSON, Sockets, Web Frameworks and tools 

• Knowledge of logging and configuration packages like Zap, Viper 

• Experience in writing unit tests for Golang code 

• Familiarity with code versioning tools such as Git or Azure Repo 

• Should have knowledge of MySQL, PostgreSQL, or any RDBMS 

• Good knowledge of Linux / Ubuntu 

Required Skills:

• 2+ year of experience in Development in JAVA technology.
• Strong Java Basics
• Spring Boot or Spring MVC
• Hands on experience on Relational Databases (SQL query or Hibernate) or MongoDB (JSON parsing)
• Proficient in REST API development
• Good at problem solving

Good to Have Skills:

• 2+ years of experience in using Java
• Good understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast paced internet start-up environment.
• Experience in technical mentor ship/coaching is highly desirable.

• 5+ years of software development experience including 4+ years of deep, hands on experience in building highly scalable web-based backend applications using Java and Spring ecosystem
• BE/BTech in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent practical experience
• Great problem-solving skills with solid data structures and algorithms knowledge
• Has extensively used the Spring ecosystem – Spring Boot, REST API Development, ORM tools like Hibernate
• Excellent knowledge of Relational Databases, SQL and ORM technologies (JPA2, Hibernate)
• Profound insight of Java and JEE internals (Class loading, Multi-Threading, Memory Management, Transaction management etc)
• Experience of coaching and mentoring junior developers with good delegation and time-management skills
• Implemented CI/CD in any of the projects done
• Strong understanding of Agile and Lean software development processes and practices
• Excellent knowledge and hands-on experience of Elastic Search
• Has designed relational databases; conversant with SQL
• Knowledge of Jenkins/ Docker and Devops
• Knowledge of Redis or similar technology
• Worked with some or all of these AWS services: EC2; lambda; SQS/SNS; Elastic Search, Transcoder
• Understanding and experience of building services and applications using principles of service-oriented architecture, preferable using REST or SOAP
• Contributed in the creation of end-to-end automation tests (functional or non-functional)
• Worked with WebSocket, Push notifications etc

• Experience in ELK stack
• Knowledge of Video tools like FFMPEG, Wowza / Node Media Streaming
• Understanding of different video formats, streaming, CDN etc
• Understanding of Machine Learning Models, Pipelines etc
