The Cloud Platform System Operations team is looking for qualified candidates to provide advance tiered support. You will perform tasks that are required to maintain and advance our OpenStack environment. This includes interfacing with tenants and peer support teams. Often times engineers will be required to participate in feedback loops with upstream resources that will shape company direction. The preparation for this role will be constant and often reactive. The engineer must be willing to embrace new technologies in an ever-changing culture in order to support Verizon cloud strategies.
Performing support seven day on call rotation that provides after hours support to cloud tenants.
Providing advanced support for the Cloud Platform and responsible for the OpenStack environment, the backend storage and the underlying network infrastructure.
Communicating with cloud tenants and in rare occasions external customers.
Troubleshooting failures and productivity impacting events.
Integrating tenants onto the OpenStack Platform
Patching, updating and upgrading both hardware and software resources.
Automating repetitive task using agile software development practices and tools such as Ansible, Puppet, BASH and Python Scripting.
You'll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree, or four or more years of work experience.
Four or more years of relevant work experience.
Two or more years of experience in modern configuration management tools (Puppet, Ansible).
Experience with distributed storage solutions (iSCSl, Ceph, Swift, other).
Experience in Linux systems administration (prefer in Virtualized environment).
Experience with networking concepts and protocols (include SDN, NFV).
Strong in Python
Experience in deploying and supporting various distributions of OpenStack(RedHat, Canonical).
Even better if you have:
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Linux Administration Certifications I and II, or equivalent proficiencies.
