Frontend Design Engineer | Figma + React/TypeScript
Full-time · Remote · 0.5–3 years of experience
₹4–8 lakh per year + ESOPs
Who we are
We’re Alpha, building an AI-native workspace for go-to-market teams. We care about thoughtful product design and the engineering that makes it work: clear information, useful interactions and interfaces that remain reliable as workflows become more complex.
What we’re building
Alpha brings contacts, a unified inbox, campaigns, knowledge and AI-assisted creation into one workspace. These connected workflows present real design challenges: helping users navigate information, manage conversations, move between views and understand what’s happening at every step.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys turning that complexity into an interface people can understand and use confidently.
The role
You’ll work across product design and frontend engineering, taking a feature from user flows and Figma designs through to a working React implementation.
Both sides matter. You should be comfortable making visual and interaction decisions, then translating them into reusable components, responsive layouts and well-managed application state. Your work should feel considered in the details and hold up beyond the happy path.
Key responsibilities
- Design user flows and interfaces in Figma with clear hierarchy, thoughtful interactions and consistent visual details
- Build those experiences in React and TypeScript, carrying the design intent through to the finished interface
- Create and maintain reusable Figma and frontend components
- Implement API integrations, asynchronous interactions and shared state across screens and views
- Handle loading, empty, error and recovery states, keyboard access and different screen sizes
- Work with the team to clarify requirements, discuss trade-offs and iterate on features
- Test your work, investigate bugs and improve usability and reliability
What we’re looking for
- Hands-on ability in both Figma product design and frontend development
- Strong fundamentals in React, TypeScript, HTML and CSS
- A good eye for typography, spacing, hierarchy and interaction design
- Familiarity with component-based development, state management and API integration
- Portfolio or reference work showing what you personally designed and built
- The ability to explain your decisions, code and contribution clearly, including where teammates or AI tools helped
Good-to-have skills
- Experience with SaaS, CRM, AI or workflow-heavy products
- Familiarity with Vite, Tailwind CSS and design systems
- Experience with data-rich interfaces such as tables, boards, filters and detail panels
- Experience with frontend testing and accessibility
What we offer
- Full-time remote work
- Competitive compensation within a ₹4–8 lakh annual salary band
- Equity through ESOPs
- Ownership across design and implementation, with a direct contribution to how Alpha’s product works and feels
How to apply
Share your portfolio or relevant reference work, along with a working demo and code or a code walkthrough where available. Briefly explain what you owned, one important design or engineering decision, and what you would improve next.

Role Summary
The Senior Front-end Developer builds and maintains client-facing interfaces per UI/UX designs and product requirements, owns front-end architecture and code-review standards, and mentors the Junior Front-end Developer. This is a specialized front-end role, not a full-stack position.

• Deep expertise in a modern front-end framework (React strongly preferred) and associated ecosystem.
• Strong understanding of front-end performance optimization and accessibility standards.
• Experience owning front-end architecture for a production application.
Targeted Qualifications
• 5–8 years of front-end development experience.
• Deep expertise in a modern framework (React preferred) and front-end architecture patterns.
• Experience owning performance and accessibility standards.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
• Experience with data-dense or real-time dashboard interfaces (relevant to IoT products).
• Experience mentoring junior developers formally.
Strong Product Design Engineer Profile that combines strong product design with hands-on frontend coding
2
Mandatory (Experience 1): Must have 2+ years in product design, with strong depth in dense, complex product interfaces (tables, forms, permissions, multi-role flows) built for real users
3
Mandatory (Experience 2): Must have strong product / visual design judgment along with the ability to ship production-ready frontend code independently. Not a designer who only vibe-codes, and not an engineer who dabbles in UI.
4
Mandatory (Frontend Tech Skills 1): Must have hands-on frontend engineering (React / HTML / CSS / GitHub), able to work directly in a production codebase and write clean, production-ready code (not bloated AI output needing an engineer to fix)
5
Mandatory (Frontend Tech Skills 2): Must be able to set guardrails and standards so AI tools generate clean, production-ready, accessible code that follows the component system, removing the need for a frontend engineer to review design-team code.
6
Mandatory (Portfolio): Must share a GitHub profile and a link to a real product prototype they designed and coded end-to-end. Must show shipped, interactive product UIs. Landing pages, marketing sites, dummy projects, case studies, and Figma / Behance / Dribbble-only portfolios will not be considered.
7
Mandatory (Communication): Must have excellent English communication and be able to clearly articulate their thought process (works with US stakeholders).
8
Mandatory (Company): B2B SaaS background (dense tables / data); early stage startups where design and engineering were not separate functions will also work
9
Mandatory (Exclusion 1): Must not position as Engineer / Developer / PM in their resume. This is a designer-first profile.
10
Mandatory (Exclusion 2): Must not be from big corporates / MNCs (1000+ employees, e.g. Infosys, Wipro) or IT services companies / agencies.
11
Preferred (Profile): Designer-first, engineer-second, with titles like Product Designer, Design Engineer, Design Builder, or Design Technologist; ideally moved from a design role into design-engineering.
12
Preferred (AI): Experience with AI-native interfaces (streaming output, agentic / human-in-the-loop UX, confidence / uncertainty in UI); AI used structurally in shipping features, not just for copy or assets.

Company Description
Ungrammary is a leading UX/UI design agency based in Mumbai, India, known for delivering high-quality digital design solutions. Ungrammary focuses on creating user-centered experiences for sectors spanning technology, finance, retail, and consumer goods. Team members work on impactful design projects that shape digital products used by a wide audience. The environment encourages creative problem-solving, collaboration, and continuous learning in the field of experience design.
Role Description
At Ungrammary, we believe the role of a designer is evolving. As AI makes execution faster and more accessible, the biggest differentiator will no longer be the ability to create screens quickly, it will be the ability to think, make sound design decisions, and create product experiences with exceptional craft.
We're looking for designers who combine UX fundamentals with outstanding visual design skills and are excited to embrace AI as part of their workflow.
What You'll Do
- Design end-to-end user experiences, from understanding problems to delivering polished interfaces.
- Create user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity UI designs.
- Design interfaces that are visually distinctive, thoughtfully crafted, and difficult to replicate with generic AI outputs.
- Build scalable design systems and maintain consistency across products.
- Think through interaction design, micro-interactions, and user behaviour to create intuitive experiences.
- Collaborate with product managers, developers, researchers, and clients to solve complex product problems.
- Use AI tools to accelerate your workflow while applying your own judgment, creativity, and product thinking to every decision.
What We're Looking For
- Exceptional UI aesthetics and attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of Design principles, information architecture, user flows, and interaction design.
- Ability to think logically, structure complex problems, and justify design decisions.
- Proficiency in Figma and modern design workflows.
- Curiosity to continuously learn and adapt as design tools and workflows evolve.
- A portfolio demonstrating both excellent visual craft and strong product thinking.
Bonus Points
- Experience working on SaaS, fintech, healthcare, AI, or enterprise products.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted design workflows and prototyping tools.
- Experience contributing to or building design systems.
What You'll Work On
You'll design ambitious digital products for startups and global brands across AI, fintech, healthcare, SaaS, and consumer technology, solving real business problems while working alongside a team that values curiosity, craftsmanship, and continuous learning.
AI-Native Design Workflow (Expected)
We expect our designers to be AI-native in the way they work.
You should be comfortable using modern AI-powered design and productivity tools such as Figma Make, Claude (for design exploration), Paper, Lovable, Freepik AI, and similar tools to accelerate ideation, visual exploration, prototyping, and execution.
We value designers who know how to combine the right tools, iterate quickly, and "hack" together solutions rather than starting everything from a blank canvas. The competitive advantage isn't doing everything manually, it's knowing where human judgment, taste, and product thinking create the most value.
If you're someone who is constantly experimenting with new AI tools and evolving your workflow, you'll fit right in.
