Lead Engineer

Company is a remote-first team, looking to scale our Open Source Feature
Flagging, Remote Config and A/B Testing product. With both SaaS and on-premises customers, we are investing into our globally distributed, low latency API and making it simple for customers to deploy on their own infrastructure via Kubernetes and OpenShift.
We are looking for a Lead Server-Side Engineer, who also enjoys working on dev-ops, infrastructure and orchestration, and can help build out our existing API and infrastructure.
We are a really small team right now, and this is our first technical hire outside of the founders, so it’s a great opportunity to be part of something that is looking to scale quickly!
We are looking for someone who loves working with:

• Python. Django Rest Framework experience would be great, but not essential! We prioritise
• quality over quantity.
• Postgres with InfluxDB, Oracle, MySQL and Redis experience a plus.
• Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, OpenShift and associated tooling.
• AWS, especially ECS, Lambda, RDS and DynamoDB. Performance and uptime are super
• important to us.
• The challenge of scaling a global, distributed API to 10,000+ requests per second.
• We have SDKs in a bunch of languages, so the more polyglot you are the better.
• If you like writing JS and React that would be awesome too.

We are an Open Source company first and foremost, so working with our community on Github to build features, fix bugs and cultivate pull requests is also on the job spec. You can check out our code on our Github pages.
We are a 100% remote team, currently based on the West Coast US and in Europe

Ideal Candidate Profile
● Solid experience in RoR, Golang, NodeJS or Python. Good to have exposure to ML.

● Overcomes roadblocks and requires minimal oversight
● Takes initiatives to fix issues/tech debts before assigned to him/her
● Able to deep dive into codebase and advise QA of possible regression impact

IITs, NITs, or other top engineering institutes)

What you'll do?

• Write awesome code
• The focus will be on performance of our data platform
• Identify tactical and long-term product improvements (could be code, script, etc.)
• Responsible for Planning and executing Metadata and Governance tool supports
• Build our internal Data Platform using exdata
• Adding scalable functionality to the system for new features like UDF's, sql functions etc

Key Responsibilities:
● Node.js Developer responsible for managing the interchange of data between the server and the users.
● Your primary focus will be the development of all server-side logic, definition and maintenance of the central database, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end.
● You will also be responsible for integrating the front-end elements built by your co-workers into the application. Therefore, a basic understanding of front-end technologies is necessary as well.
● Strong proficiency with JavaScript
● Knowledge of Node.js core and frameworks Express, StrongLoop, koa, hapi etc
● Understanding the nature of asynchronous programming and its quirks and workarounds
● Good understanding of server-side templating languages

We're looking for exprienced Python developers with over 2+ years of production experience and strong expertise in building web applications and APIs using Python, Django and DRF. We are looking for cadidates who are go-getters and are leaning towards leadership positions. Candidates must have a proven history of building, scaling, optimising and securing Python based backends and APIs using a microservice architecture.

 

Bonus Skills : Experience with ReactJs, Node.js, FastAPI
