Principal Electrical & Electronics Engineer – Robotics
About the Role
Octobotics Tech is seeking a Principal Electrical & Electronics Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of high-reliability electronic systems for next-generation robotic platforms. This is a core engineering leadership position for professionals with strong multidisciplinary experience in power electronics, embedded systems, EMI/EMC compliance, and safety-critical design, ideally within marine, industrial, or hazardous environments.
Key Responsibilities
· System Architecture & Leadership
· Architect and supervise electrical and electronic systems for autonomous and remotely operated robotic platforms, ensuring reliability under challenging industrial conditions.
· Lead end-to-end product development — from design, prototyping, and integration to validation and deployment.
· Develop modular, scalable architectures enabling payload integration, sensor fusion, and AI-based control.
· Collaborate with firmware, AI/ML, and mechanical teams to achieve seamless system-level integration.
· Power & Safety Systems
· Design robust, stable, and redundant power supply architectures for FPGA-based controllers, sensors, and high-value electronics.
· Engineer surge-protected, isolated, and fail-safe electrical systems compliant with MIL-STD, ISO, and IEC safety standards.
· Implement redundancy, grounding, and safety strategies for operations in Oil & Gas, Offshore, and Hazardous Zones.
· Compliance & Validation
· Ensure adherence to EMI/EMC, ISO 13485, IEC 60601, and industrial safety standards.
· Conduct design simulations, PCB design reviews, and validation testing using tools such as KiCAD, OrCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, and LabVIEW.
· Lead certification, quality, and documentation processes for mission-critical subsystems.
· Innovation & Mentorship
· Apply AI-enhanced signal processing, fuzzy control, and advanced filtering methods to embedded hardware.
· Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians to foster a knowledge-driven, hands-on culture.
· Contribute to R&D strategy, product roadmaps, and technical proposals supporting innovation and fundraising.
Required Technical Skills
· Hardware & PCB Design: KiCAD, OrCAD, EAGLE; 2–6 layer mixed-signal and power boards.
· Embedded Systems: ARM Cortex A/M, STM32, ESP32, Nordic NRF52, NVIDIA Jetson, Raspberry Pi.
· Programming: Embedded C, Python, MATLAB, PyQt, C/C++.
· Simulation & Control: MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW; PID, fuzzy logic, and ML-based control.
· Compliance Expertise: EMI/EMC, MIL-STD, ISO 13485, IEC 60601, and industrial safety standards.
· Hands-On Skills: Soldering, circuit debugging, power testing, and system integration.
Qualifications
· Education: B.Tech/M.S. in Electrical & Electronics Engineering (NIT/IIT preferred).

Hardware Engineering
- Design and optimize airframes (multi-rotor, fixed-wing, hybrid) using lightweight composites and advanced aerodynamics.

- Implement sensor fusion systems (LiDAR, GPS, cameras, IMUs, radar, RF) for navigation and mapping.
