Job Description — Grant Proposal Writer / Grants Manager

Location: New Delhi (hybrid) | Remote-friendly within India

Employment Type: Full-time (12-month probation; long-term extension based on performance). Contract/consulting arrangements may be considered.

Reports to: CEO (Co-founder)

Start date: ASAP

Role summary

You will lead end-to-end grant fundraising and stewardship across government schemes, CSR programs, foundations, and international donors. The role blends technical comprehension of water/environmental technologies with proven grant writing, budgeting, and post-award management. You will translate lab and pilot evidence into donor-grade narratives, build partnerships, and ensure compliant delivery of funded projects.

Key responsibilities

Opportunity identification:

1. Maintain an active pipeline of relevant funding opportunities (central/state schemes, Jal Jeevan Mission, CSR portals, multilateral donors, foundations, and corporate CSR calls).
2. Assess fit, prioritize opportunities, prepare opportunity briefs and submission timelines.

Proposal development:

1. Lead drafting, editing and submission of concept notes, full proposals, technical annexes, budgets, log frames, M&E frameworks and compliance attachments.
2. Convert technical data (lab results, pilot metrics) into clear problem–solution–impact narratives tailored to each donor.
3. Prepare robust budgets, cost justifications, procurement plans, risk registers and milestone schedules aligned with organizational capacity.

Post-award management:

1. Lead grant acceptance, set up project accounts, draft implementation plans and ensure timely delivery, financial reporting and audit readiness.
2. Manage donor communications, site visits, progress and final reporting.

Capacity building & institutionalization:

1. Build a grants playbook (template proposals, budgets, boilerplate language, checklists).
2. Train staff on donor processes and documentation.

Additional duties (as requested)

1. Conduct small technical or field studies relevant to our work—e.g., measuring emissions reduction, health impacts, and market positioning—and synthesize results for proposals and reports.
2. Proactively apply for grants and funding opportunities that accelerate product development, pilots and market entry.
3. Represent and present DetoXyFi’s work to government and non-government stakeholders, including ULBs, CSR teams and international donors.

Required qualifications & experience

1. Education: Bachelor’s or master’s in environmental engineering, Environmental Science, Water Resources, Public Policy, Development Studies or related field. Technical degree strongly preferred.
2. Experience: Minimum 1 year of professional experience writing and managing grants for tech/science/NGO/enterprise projects. Proven track record of winning at least one grant (government, CSR, foundation or multilateral).
3. Technical skills: Comfortable interpreting technical reports (lab/pilot data) and converting them into donor-grade writing. Strong budgeting skills, including line-item budgets and indirect cost calculations.
4. Communication: Exceptional English writing and editing ability; strong presentation skills.
5. Tools: Proficient in MS Office / Google Workspace; familiarity with grants databases and project management tools is a plus.

Preferred (nice-to-have)

1. Prior experience in water-technology startups, environmental engineering or public health projects.

Job Overview:

You will be working on creation of many globally unique analytics assets as part of our Product and then using the outputs of the Product to provide consulting to our clients. You will experience working with some of the sharpest minds in the TMT focused M&A world.

You are either an individual contributor or managing a team in the TMT industry. You must have expertise in specific segments of the TMT industry (for example, Cybersecurity, IoT, Fintech etc.) and have a demonstrable track record of independent thinking and analytics to industry and company attractiveness.

Preferred Experience:

• 6-8 years of experience in TMT industry

• Currently in a client delivery and thought leadership position in Business Research, Consulting or part of a Corporation’s Strategy team

Primary Responsibilities:

You will have 2 primary responsibilities:

• Product management

  • Doing research on TMT industry segments and building content relating to industry and company attractiveness, company growth areas, financial performance, valuations et al.

  • Being part of a highly talented and motivated team that is pioneering new thinking on TMT industry outlook

• Consulting

  • Use the output of our product, augment it with creative thinking and create compelling presentations and models for our M&A clients

In addition, you will be expected to contribute with your ideas on all aspects of the firm so that we all succeed. There are no barriers and you should have an independent point-of-view.

Required Skills & Personal Attributes:

• Excellent business writing and verbal communication skills including presentation skills.

• Detail-oriented with high standards for written and visual presentation of information. Excellent research, analytical, and numerical skills. Logical thought process to think through a problem and develop solutions.

• Ability to develop and articulate strategic recommendations based on rigorous data analysis.

• High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel etc.)

• Strong inter-personal skills; ability to work with teams in a timeline driven high pressure environment (typical of consulting firms); self-driven with a high level of motivation and energy; a strong ‘can do’ attitude; ability and willingness to work in a small and fast growing set-up; ability to pro-actively identify ways to contribute to the firm’s goals & mission; international experience; professional appearance as well as manner of speaking.

Educational Background:
