We are an early stage start-up, building new fintech products for small businesses. Founders are IIT-IIM alumni, with prior experience across management consulting, venture capital and fintech startups. We are driven by the vision to empower small business owners with technology and dramatically improve their access to financial services. To start with, we are building a simple, yet powerful solution to address a deep pain point for these owners: cash flow management. Over time, we will also add digital banking and 1-click financing to our suite of offerings.

 

We have developed an MVP which is being tested in the market. We have closed our seed funding from marquee global investors and are now actively building a world class tech team. We are a young, passionate team with a strong grip on this space and are looking to on-board enthusiastic, entrepreneurial individuals to partner with us in this exciting journey. Technology stack at Velocity comprises a wide variety of cutting edge technologies like, NodeJS, Ruby on Rails, Reactive Programming,, Kubernetes, AWS, NodeJS, Python, ReactJS, Redux (Saga) Redis, Lambda etc. 

 

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for building data and analytical engineering pipelines with standard ELT patterns, implementing data compaction pipelines, data modelling and overseeing overall data quality

• Work with the Office of the CTO as an active member of our architecture guild

• Writing pipelines to consume the data from multiple sources

• Writing a data transformation layer using DBT to transform millions of data into data warehouses.

• Implement Data warehouse entities with common re-usable data model designs with automation and data quality capabilities

• Identify downstream implications of data loads/migration (e.g., data quality, regulatory)

 

What To Bring

• 5+ years of software development experience, a startup experience is a plus.

• Past experience of working with Airflow and DBT is preferred

• 5+ years of experience working in any backend programming language. 

• Strong first-hand experience with data pipelines and relational databases such as Oracle, Postgres, SQL Server or MySQL

• Experience with DevOps tools (GitHub, Travis CI, and JIRA) and methodologies (Lean, Agile, Scrum, Test Driven Development)

• Experienced with the formulation of ideas; building proof-of-concept (POC) and converting them to production-ready projects

• Experience building and deploying applications on on-premise and AWS or Google Cloud cloud-based infrastructure

• Basic understanding of Kubernetes & docker is a must.

• Experience in data processing (ETL, ELT) and/or cloud-based platforms

• Working proficiency and communication skills in verbal and written English.

 

Responsibilities

• Interact with the Velocity customers via phone, email or video conference and by demonstrating the highest level of urgency, resolve customer issues in a timely manner. 

• Build and maintain excellent relationships with clients and achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction.

• Work as part of our extended support team in a startup atmosphere, doing whatever it takes to exceed customer expectations

• Be an Owner and respond to internal inquiries related to Velocitysystems, products and processes. Interact with multiple third-party vendors to resolve the issues

• Understand the technical application of the Velocity suite of products and services

• Partner with Customer Success, Sales, Engineering and Product teams to resolve sophisticated problems with potentially costly and far-reaching consequences 

• Write it Down: identify and create documentation that Empower Others 

 

What do you need?

• 3+ years of relevant experience in Customer Success

• Have an understanding of web applications, REST APIs, DB Systems

• Experience with JavaScript, Ruby, Perl, or Python programming

• Prior knowledge of DBMS, SQL

• Past experience of using tools like Postman, Kibanna, 

• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

• Strong debugging skills. Instinctive ability to subdivide problems into basic components in order to efficiently pinpoint root cause of issues.

• Team player with solid communication and presentation skills

• Good interpersonal communication and customer service skills are needed to work successfully with customers in high stress and or ambiguous situations

We are looking for a young person who wants to join a fast growing start up to work with Co-Founders to drive the org-wide goal setting and planning process, developing Strategy and growth road map

Assist CEO in institutionalizing people management and org structure, and contributing to shaping strategies across the teams

Analyze and determine key insights from key business drivers, competitive environment, trends and operating metrics

Contribute to complex and time-critical projects by quickly understanding the context and developing a prioritized approach for resolution

Coordinate with different functions within the organization - growth, product, engineering among, credit and others in the deployment of the business initiatives identified

Ideate, plan and oversee implementation of new ideas and business critical projects

 

Qualifications 

 Graduate and master’s degree from tier 1 Institutes and worked earlier with big3 companies like (The Bain, McKinsey , BCG and Kearney )

Min 3 – 6years of Chief of Staff experience after completing your graduate degree

Outstanding record of academic achievement and Demonstrated aptitude for Corporate Strategy

Proven record of leadership in a work setting and/or through extracurricular activities •

Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Ability to work effectively with people at all senior levels in an organization

Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively – both verbally and in writing – in English

Key Responsibilities:- 

Be responsible for the design, development, quality, and delivery of initiatives for the team

Recruit great engineers, in collaboration with Velocity’s recruiting team

Define the technology roadmap for the team and liaison with the business teams and product managers to shape the business OKR planning

Oversee agile delivery processes and adoption of milestone-based execution; proactively lead stakeholders communications related to deliverables and risks

Research and identify emerging technologies to define long-term engineering initiatives

Lead and mentor your team, taking them to the next level of technical expertise and inspiring a team culture of ownership, accountability, data-based decisions, continuous improvement, and blameless retrospectives

Work closely with Engineering Leaders, Managers; Product Management, Business Development and Operation teams, and enable them by providing

You set up best practices for development and champion their adoption and at the same time Architect & design technically robust, flexible and scalable solutions.

Perform regular performance evaluation and share and seek feedback.

What to bring

At least 5 years of experience in software development and delivery, with in-depth knowledge of software architectures; must have at least 2 years of experience in leading small and mid-sized development teams for the technology ( Golang, Python)

Great project management skills to lead and juggle multi-engineer projects and deliver high-quality projects on time

BTech, MTech, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical discipline (or equivalent) from Tier 1 Institutions  like IIT, NIT, BIT

Past experience with startups and fast paced environments is an added advantage

Excellent leadership skills to mentor the engineers under you.

Track record of leading productive engineering teams

You lead by example, by setting the right context, and by helping teammates do their best work

Deep understanding of technologies and architecture in a highly scalable and available set-up.

Good communication skills in verbal and written English.

Should be preferred from only product company background
