Role Overview
The Category Manager – Sourcing will be responsible for managing end-to-end sourcing of refurbished mobile devices. This role requires strong experience in supplier negotiations, pricing, inventory planning, and margin optimization. The ideal candidate should currently be working as a Sourcing Manager or above in a leading refurbished mobile or recommerce organization.
Key Responsibilities
Sourcing & Price Management
- Lead negotiations with sourcing partners and suppliers to achieve competitive buy prices and margins
- Drive month-on-month (MoM) category and brand-level performance metrics
- Analyze margin performance and ensure alignment with overall business targets
Inventory Planning & Forecasting
- Own SKU-level and city/store-level demand forecasting
- Ensure optimal inventory availability while controlling aging and excess stock
- Coordinate with sourcing partners to ensure timely availability of key models and launches
Partner & Performance Management
- Set and track monthly sourcing and sales targets
- Design incentive and payout structures to improve supplier performance and supply consistency
- Build long-term, scalable relationships with sourcing partners
Catalogue, Data & MIS
- Ensure accurate catalogue pricing, grading, and product information across platforms
- Track key metrics such as stock aging, sell-through, fill rate, and supplier performance
- Generate MIS reports and provide actionable insights to leadership

Experience
- 5+ years of experience in sourcing, buying, or category management within refurbished mobiles, recommerce, or consumer electronics
- Mandatory: Currently working as a Sourcing Manager or above in a large-scale refurbished mobile organization (Cashify or equivalent ecosystem experience preferred)
Skills & Competencies
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
- High analytical ability with strong command of Excel and MIS reporting
- Deep understanding of refurbished mobile grading, pricing, and demand trends
- Ability to manage multiple suppliers, SKUs, and targets simultaneously

Category Manager
As a Category Manager, the individual would own the respective category P&L, growth strategy and brand partnerships. This is a critical role for the organization.
The responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Identifying the right product & brand mix for growth, bringing brands on board and building a long term synergistic relationship
- Creating a growth calendar and aligning brands, offers, marketing, curation & content to drive sales

- 3-6 years of core operations management/sales experience
- B.E/B.Tech/postgraduates from IIT's, NIT, SIBM, KJ, NSIT, DCE, PEC Etc.
- Strong business acumen, analytical skills, data-driven, and P&L focused decision making
- Ex entrepreneurial experiences a plus

- Product Flow - Ensuring product flow is smooth, each time weeding out excess options, adding new relevant categories on L1, grid etc
- Monitoring and taking relevant actions for driving visits and conversions
- Working with assisted Sales team to drive better conversions, SOPs etc.
- Managing inventory for online for each category, sub category - planning ahead of sale etc
- Liaising with brand spoc for planning for peak marketing for margin/ inventory, Clearance sale stock with revised margins, return clauses etc
- Experience of 6+ years of managing a category in an e-commerce set-up or large FMCG companies
- Business development mindset and strong operational coordination skills
- Good negotiation skills
- Proficient in MS Office
- Attention to detail and comfortable working in a ground-up business environment.
- Team handling
- Strong experience in conversion improvement in an online environment, preferred
- Product management experience (not necessary a hard core product experience but with an understanding of customer journeys, basic UI/UX) would be an added advantage.
- Proven track record of scale-up and contributing to the revenue numbers.
