Designation: Automation & IoT Engineer (Water Treatment)

Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain automation systems (SCADA, PLC, HMI) tailored for water treatment plants, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
- Program and configure PLC/SCADA systems for process automation of pumps, valves, filters, dosing systems, chemical treatment, backwashing, sludge handling, and other water treatment operations.
- Integrate IoT-based real-time monitoring solutions including flow meters, pressure transmitters, water level sensors, and water quality instruments (pH, turbidity, TDS, conductivity, chlorine residual, etc.).
- Develop and configure data acquisition systems (DAQ) to collect, process, and analyze operational parameters, ensuring availability of accurate real-time and historical data.
- Set up dashboards and cloud-based remote monitoring platforms for centralized control, reporting, and decision-making across multiple plant sites.
- Ensure reliable industrial communication protocols (Modbus RTU/TCP, Profibus, OPC-UA, MQTT, Ethernet/IP, LoRa, GPRS/4G/5G) for smooth data exchange between PLCs, IoT devices, and cloud servers.
- Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance of PLCs, SCADA servers, HMIs, sensors, actuators, and communication networks to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with process engineers and plant operators to optimize plant performance through advanced control strategies (PID tuning, VFD integration, energy optimization, predictive maintenance).
- Design and implement cybersecurity measures to protect automation & IoT systems from unauthorized access, malware, and data breaches.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation including control logic diagrams, wiring diagrams, SOPs, and system manuals.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for procurement, installation, and commissioning of automation hardware/software.
- Support plant expansion and upgradation projects by evaluating new automation technologies and IoT solutions.
- Train and mentor plant operators on SCADA/HMI usage, alarm handling, and IoT dashboards to improve operational efficiency.
- Generate periodic performance reports on plant automation, IoT monitoring, energy consumption, and water quality compliance.
