Role Overview:

As an AI Engineer on the Capacity team, you will design, build, and deploy the intelligent systems that power our AI Tutor and Simulation Lab.

You’ll collaborate closely with prompt engineers, product managers, and full-stack developers to build scalable AI features that connect language, reasoning, and real-world learning. This is not a traditional ML ops role,  it’s an opportunity to engineer how intelligence flows across the product: from tutoring interactions to real-time physics reasoning.

Your Core Impact

• Build the AI backbone that drives real-time tutoring, contextual reasoning, and simulation feedback.
• Translate learning logic and educational goals into deployable, scalable AI systems.
• Enable the AI Tutor to think, reason, and respond based on structured academic material and live learner inputs.

Key Responsibilities:

1. AI System Architecture & Development

• Design and develop scalable AI systems that enable chat-based tutoring, concept explainability, and interactive problem solving.
• Implement and maintain model-serving APIs, vector databases, and context pipelines to connect content, learners, and the tutor interface.
• Contribute to the design of the AI reasoning layer that interprets simulation outputs and translates them into learner-friendly explanations.

2. Simulation Lab Intelligence

• Work with the ML team to integrate LLMs with the Simulation Lab; enabling the system to read experiment variables, predict outcomes, and explain results dynamically.
• Create evaluation loops that compare student actions against expected results and generate personalized feedback through the tutor.
• Support the underlying ML logic for physics-based prediction and real-time data flow between lab modules and the tutor layer.

3. Model Integration & Optimization

• Fine-tune, evaluate, and deploy LLMs or smaller domain models that serve specific platform functions.
• Design retrieval and grounding workflows so that all model outputs reference the correct textbook or course material.
• Optimize performance, latency, and scalability for high-traffic, interactive learning environments.

4. Collaboration & Research

• Partner with Prompt Engineers to ensure reasoning consistency across tutoring and simulations.
• Work with Product and Education teams to define use cases that align AI behavior with learning goals.
• Stay updated with new model capabilities and research advancements in RAG, tool use, and multi-modal learning systems.

5. Data & Infrastructure

• Maintain robust data pipelines for model inputs (textbooks, transcripts, lab data) and evaluation sets.
• Ensure privacy-safe data handling and continuous model performance tracking.
• Deploy and monitor AI workloads using cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).etc.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 3–4 years of experience in AI engineering, ML integration, or backend systems for AI-driven products.
• Strong proficiency in Python, with experience in frameworks like FastAPI, Flask, or LangChain.
• Familiarity with LLMs, embeddings, RAG systems, and vector databases (Pinecone, FAISS, Chroma, etc.).
• Experience building APIs and integrating with frontend components.
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and model deployment environments.
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and OOP principles.

• Architect and Develop: Design, implement, and maintain high-performance backend services using Java/Golang and intuitive frontend interfaces using React.
• Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers, promoting best practices and fostering a collaborative environment.
• Code Quality: Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following industry best practices and coding standards.
• Collaboration: Work with backend developers, frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver robust solutions.
• Performance Optimization: Identify and address performance bottlenecks and scalability issues.
• Debugging and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex issues in both backend and frontend components.
• Testing: Implement comprehensive testing strategies, including unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests.

Requirements 

• 7-10 years of architecture, software design, engineering, and implementation experience in a complex and fast-moving early-stage start-up environment.
• Strong expertise in systems architecture and a service-based codebase.
• Strong expertise in designing highly available, fault-tolerant, scalable systems. • Experience building and leading engineering teams that took products from idea to launch (0 to 1) and launch to scale (1 to 10).
• Strong communication and leadership abilities especially in the current remote environment.
• Strong developer who can give the best in their team a run for their money! • A passion for building impactful products.
• Deep knowledge of backend and frontend technologies such as NodeJS, Java, Postgres/MySQL, ReactJS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with mobile development: Android and/or React Native.

Building the Engineering Team and Culture 

The power of a good engineering leader is to build out the engineering team and set a start-up’s  engineering culture, especially when the organization gets to the size where that middle layer of  management is required. A strong head of engineering should therefore be able to determine  who will be good leads for the team, hire them, and be able to groom that skill set over time. 

Product Planning 

Not only the ability to execute, but the leader’s role prior to development is also critical to the  product-planning phase. While product management/marketing will provide insight into the  features, market size, pricing etc. the engineering leadership needs to provide feedback into the  resources (headcount, equipment, etc.) needed to deliver by a given date. An engineering leader  brings sanity to this process with a unified view of broader objectives.

Execution 

Ultimately, the output of any engineering organization is the product. A well-functioning  organization will not only build a high-quality product, but also hit pre-determined dates and  accurately forecast updates to the timeline as it changes. One has to have a command of the  software development process, and ensure the correct process is in place and followed. 

Handling Chaos 

When a product launch goes right and catches the world on fire, the feedback from the market  can be overwhelming. Even with marginal success, engineering will be inundated with customer  escalations, feature requests etc. All of this must be addressed while continuing to drive the  product forward. A hallmark of a strong engineering leader is to maintain composure while  navigating this chaos.

Minimum Qualifications

• As part of the companyC Global cyber security consulting team, individual’s primary role would be to be a part of ISO 27k projects IT audits, ITGC audits, SSAE, SOC audits, IT Process Audit, Systems Audit, Gap assessment TPRM, GDPR, Infosec, GRC , ISMS, Cyber Security, SOX ITGC on customer engagements
• Will address all aspects of security like physical, logical, data, access etc and review Information Security policy and suggest / recommend necessary changes to the same on customer engagements
• Will be an active participant in internal / third party system security reviews and audits on customer engagements.
• Will perform internal audits on all aspects of IT and ensure compliance with the prescribed security norms on customer engagements and will be responsible for tracking the open audit findings and closure of the same
