About the Role

As a Principal Engineer at EquityList, you’ll own and drive the engineering direction of the company. You’ll work with an existing team of 4 strong full-stack engineers, writing production code while setting the technical bar across architecture, scalability, and reliability.

This is a hands-on role with real ownership. You’ll partner closely with the CEO and product leadership to turn business priorities into well-designed systems, guide major technical decisions, and ensure we move fast without breaking fundamentals.

What You’ll Do

1. Hands-On Coding (50%): Own full-stack epics/features end-to-end (React/Node/Postgres stack) from ideation to production.
2. Technical Leadership (20%): Guide architecture decisions, system design, DevOps (CI/CD, GCP, Kubernetes), and infosec (auth, encryption, SOC2 basics).
3. Mentoring & Code Quality (15%): Conduct code reviews for 80%+ of PRs, pair-program with juniors/mids, run tech syncs to the upskill team.
4. Hiring & Team Building (5%): Screen candidates, lead technical interviews, contribute to scaling the team.
5. Product Strategy (10%): Collaborate with CEO/Product Manager on roadmap prioritization, effort estimation, and refinement.

• 8-12 years full-stack experience; prior Series A/B startup exposure essential.
• Expertise: Modern JS stack (React/Next.js, Node/Express), databases (Postgres), cloud infra, DevOps tools.

• Indian startup ecosystem knowledge is a plus.
