As a Software Engineer, you will collaborate with engineers and product managers on the development and maintenance of Quantum’s DXi-Series of disk-based backup appliance software. Quantum’s DXi series protects our customers data on premises, in the cloud, or in a hybrid environment.

Job Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Write code primarily for Linux systems, with programming languages including Python, C, C++, and Perl.
• Design and build differentiating feature sets that continue to expand product capabilities, both on premises and in the cloud.
• Work with development, test, service, and support engineers to develop tactical solutions for customer issues.
• May design and develop automated test suites.
• May maintain lab equipment.
Required Skills and/or Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field of study required.
• 5-10 years related industry experience required.
• 5+ years software development in C or C++ is required.
• 3-5 years’ experience working in a Linux environment is required.
• Experience in writing scripts: Perl, shell, bash, and/or other scripting tools is required.
• Experience with debugging tools such as GDB is required.
• Experience with source control and shared build environments is required.
- Strong understanding of Core Python, data structures, OOPs, exception handling, and logical problem-solving.
- Experience in at least one Python framework (FastAPI preferred, Flask/Django acceptable).
- Good knowledge of REST API development and API authentication (JWT/OAuth).
- Experience with SQL databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) & NoSQL databases (MongoDB/Firestore).
- Basic understanding of cloud platforms (GCP or AWS).
- Experience with Git, branching strategies, and code reviews.
- Solid understanding of performance optimization and writing clean, efficient code.
- Develop, test, and maintain high-quality Python applications using FastAPI (or Flask/Django).
- Design and implement RESTful APIs with strong understanding of request/response cycles, data validation, and authentication.
- Work with SQL (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB/Firestore) databases, including schema design and query optimization.
- Experience with Google Cloud (BigQuery, Dataflow, Notebooks) will be a strong plus.
- Work with cloud environments (GCP/AWS) for deployments, storage, logging, etc.
- Use version control tools such as Git/BitBucket for collaborative development.
- Support and build data pipelines using Dataflow/Beam and BigQuery if required.
- Experience with GCP services like BigQuery, Dataflow (Apache Beam), Cloud Functions, Notebooks etc
- Good to have Exposure to microservices architecture.
- Familiarity with Redis, Elasticsearch, or message queues (Pub/Sub, RabbitMQ, Kafka).
Requirements
- Extensive and expert programming experience in at least one general programming language (e. g. Java, C, C++) & tech stack to write maintainable, scalable, unit-tested code.
- Experience with multi-threading and concurrency programming.
- Extensive experience in object-oriented design skills, knowledge of design patterns, and a huge passion and ability to design intuitive modules and class-level interfaces.
- Excellent coding skills - should be able to convert the design into code fluently.
- Knowledge of Test Driven Development. Good understanding of databases (e. g. MySQL) and NoSQL (e. g. HBase, Elasticsearch, Aerospike etc).
- Strong desire to solve complex and interesting real-world problems.
- Experience with full life cycle development in any programming language on a Linux platform. Go-getter attitude that reflects in energy and intent behind assigned tasks.
- Worked in a startup-like environment with high levels of ownership and commitment.
- BTech, MTech or Ph. D. in Computer Science or related technical discipline (or equivalent).
- Experience in building highly scalable business applications, which involve implementing large complex business flows and dealing with huge amounts of data.
- 3+ years of experience in the art of writing code and solving problems on a large scale.
- An open communicator who shares thoughts and opinions frequently listens intently and takes constructive feedback
- 3 years experience working on Python, Django and DRF (must have projects)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Writing high quality code, participating in code reviews, designing/architecting systems of varying complexity and scope, and creating high quality documentation supporting the design/coding tasks
