You're good. You know you're good. Your Dribbble has clean case studies, your Figma files are organized, your design system is tight.

And you're bored out of your mind.

Not because the work is easy. Because it doesn't matter. You redesign the settings page. Three stakeholders give conflicting feedback. You compromise on all of it. Ship something you'd never put in your portfolio. Wait for the next sprint.

You didn't get into design for this. You got into it because design isn't decoration. It's the product itself.

If that's still what you believe, keep reading.

The Problems We Haven't Solved Yet: We haven't figured everything out. That's the point. Here are real design challenges on our table right now, unsolved, waiting for someone good enough to crack them:

  1. How do you design an AI learning experience that feels human? Our AI tutors adapt in real-time to how each learner thinks. But "adaptive" can easily feel robotic. How do you design an interaction where a machine is teaching but the learner feels understood? No one has solved this well at scale.
  2. How do you make learning feel like a game without making it feel like a trick? Gamification in edtech is mostly badges and streaks. The real question: how do you design dopamine loops that make someone want to learn at 11 PM the way they want to scroll Instagram at 11 PM? Without dark patterns.
  3. How do you build for a world of generative UI? When AI generates personalized content for every user, the UI can't be static. How do you design a system that's both coherent and infinitely variable? Figma components don't cover it. You'd be inventing the framework.
  4. How do you create simulations where people learn by doing? Not watching videos. Not reading docs. Actually doing the work where mistakes are free and feedback is instant. How do you design the UX of "practice" at scale?
  5. How do you design across modalities? WhatsApp bots, mobile apps, web platforms, AI-generated video. How do you create a design language that holds together across contexts this different, while feeling native to each?

If you read those five problems and felt your brain start firing, this role is for you.

The Honest Part: Our product today is not beautifully designed. Some of it is. A lot of it isn't.

That's exactly why we need you. Not in six months. Now.

We have 3 million+ learners across 64 countries. AI that genuinely works, personalization that's real (not a buzzword), and a product rated 4.8/5. What we don't have is a founding designer with the taste to make the experience match the ambition.

The gap between what our product does and how it feels is your canvas. It's enormous. And it's yours.

How You'd Actually Work Here:

Most JDs sell you a vision. Here's the reality.

  • You'd talk to actual users. Not personas. Not filtered summaries. You'd call a learner in Pune who dropped off mid-course and find out why. Here, user research isn't a quarterly ritual. It's how you start every design decision.
  • You'd see your impact. Fast. Ship something, it's in front of 3M+ users. You'll know within days whether it worked. Real data, real fast.
  • Your bottleneck is you, not your team. Our devs read Figma files. The gap between what you design and what ships is small. The constraint is the quality of your thinking, not the capacity of the people around you.
  • You'd have a voice in what gets built. You'd work directly with me and Gargi (co-founder) on what we build and why. Your perspective on the user experience shapes direction. Because a learning product where design doesn't drive direction doesn't work.
  • Design is load-bearing here. A learning experience that feels clunky doesn't just look bad. It literally doesn't teach. Experience quality is the product.

The Specifics:

Role: Sr. Founding Product Designer (AI-First). Senior IC with high ownership & high influence. "Founding" means you'd shape the design culture, system, and standards for everything that follows.

Experience: 4+ years in B2C product design. Edtech, gaming, or consumer apps where retention actually matters. A portfolio that shows design moving metrics, not just looking good.

You're the person if: • You can articulate a user problem before you draw a single frame • You're comfortable reading dashboards & making decisions from data, not just intuition • You write tight, clear design rationale that developers understand and trust • You thrive with ambiguity and ownership. Slow approvals frustrate you

Comp: Rs 18L-30L CTC + 0.01%-1.0% equity. The equity range is wide because we'll calibrate to what you bring. At our stage, this is real upside.

Location: Mumbai. In-office with WFH flexibility. Full-time.

The team: Google's Top 20 Startups to Watch. Google AI First Accelerator '24. Backed by funds of Naval Ravikant, Reid Hoffman, and founders/CXOs from Udemy, Flipkart, Jupiter, PayU, Edmodo & Inflection AI. Featured on CNBC-TV18. 11-50 people building something that changes how people learn, permanently.
