Senior Software Developer

We are looking to hire a Senior Backend Developer, with over 4+ years of experience, to directly work with the CTO and contribute in building and developing new products and feature sets for NostraGamus. The work will entail the opportunity to explore and utilise the latest developments in the world of technology, and formulate ways to incorporate them into day to day work to create stellar products. The candidate must have had significant exposure in building real products, including working with various stakeholders across product and marketing teams. Prior knowledge in building games at scale is highly desirable, but not necessarily.

The following skillsets are highly essential:

1. Expertise in Node Js&Javascript, and hobbyist interest in few other languages like Python, Ruby, PHP. Must have done C/C++ programming in school/college
2. Deep knowledge on Database systems, especially PostgreSQL, and any noSQL clones, including knowledge to optimise
3. Awareness of Docker, virtualization, Redis or similar caching toolsets
4. Absolute mastery in using Unix based systems and Bash. Ability to work in seamlessly in headless environments is a must.
5. Disciplined in approaching problems, ability to maintain composure under catastrophic failures and propensity to work under deadlines

Bonus Points :

1. Passionate about building new products - having done a few personal projects, regardless of success achieved or goals completed.
2. Prior knowledge in building games at scale.
3. Good understanding in AWS and its various services - EC2, ECS, RDS, SQS, Elastic Beanstalk, Elasticache, Route53.
4. Strong interest in Mathematics, Probability Theory, Statistics, Machine Learning and ability to apply math in real-world applications.

Position: Backend Engineer

Job Location: Bangalore ( office near cubbon park - opp JW marriott)

Work Mode : 5 days work from office 

Requirements:

● Engineering graduate with 3-5 years of experience in software product development.

● Proficient in Python, Node.js, Go

● Good knowledge of SQL and NoSQL

● Strong Experience in designing and building APIs

● Experience with working on scalable interactive web applications

● A clear understanding of software design constructs and their implementation

● Understanding of the threading limitations of Python and multi-process architecture

● Experience implementing Unit and Integration testing

● Exposure to the Finance domain is preferred

● Strong written and oral communication skills

As a Node.js Developer, you will be responsible for:

Designing, developing, and maintaining server-side applications and systems using Node.js, a JavaScript runtime environment. Your expertise in backend development, JavaScript, TypeScript, and REST APIs will play an essential role in creating efficient and powerful server-side applications.

Responsibilities:

● Design and implement efficient, secure, and maintainable server-side code using Node.js.

● Collaborate with the front-end development team to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.

● Develop APIs for seamless data flow between the front-end and back-end.

● Optimize application performance and ensure high availability and scalability.

To succeed in this role – you should have the following:

● Minimum of 3-4 years of experience as a backend developer.

● Must have proven experience as a Back-End Developer, with a focus on Node.js.

● Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and related frameworks (Express.js, Hapi.js, etc.).

● Experience with RESTful API design principles.

● Experience with agile development methodologies.

● Familiarity with working with at least one of PostgreSQL or MongoDB.

● Familiarity with version control systems (Git)

● Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.

● Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Added bonus:

● Familiarity with frontend development technologies like HTML and CSS.

● Experience working with Docker, Github Actions, and other common CI/CD pipelines

● Knowledge about AWS components (S3, EC2, Cloudfront, Redis Clusters, etc.)

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

• 2+ years of experience with Node.js
• Expertise in Typescript, AWS, Firebase, MongoDB, and Express

You will be bringing:

• Hands-on experience in writing applications using Node.js (including Socket.io and Express or similar)
• Excellent knowledge of a few of the available databases such as MySQL, MongoDB, etc.
• Proficiency in application deployment on Linux or Ubuntu environments
• Proficiency in JavaScript languages like React and/or Angular, along with a comprehensive experience in open-source frameworks
• Experience in server-client architecture project(s)
• Ability to prioritize in a chaotic and ambiguous environment
