Designation: Senior Researcher / Chief Researcher

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Research and Develop Innovative Use Cases, Solutions and Architectural Blueprints in support of Hitachi's cross-industry business needs like Energy, Industry, Mobility, Smart Life, and Information Technology.

2. Design, Implement and Demonstrate proof-of-Concept and working proto-types for Hitachi and its clients.

3. Provide R&D support to Hitachi business units and group companies to productize research prototypes.

4. Explore emerging tools, techniques, and technologies, and work with academia for cutting-edge solutions.

5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and eco-system partners for mutual business benefit.

6. Generate eminence via patents, publications, thought leadership, invited speakerships and conspicuous presence in forums of repute.

7. Add value to self through continuous learning and knowledge acquisition.

8. Give back learnings to colleagues and communities.

9. Mentor colleagues for growth and success.

Mandatory Requirements

1. Academic Qualification: Bachelor's degree with STEM background (e.g., Science, Technology, Engineering and Management).

2. Solution Architecture: Deep Experience in Design and Development of Enterprise-class information technology systems (e.g., Design Thinking, Use Case Development, Model Driven Development, Agile Methodology, end-to-end System Design and Decomposition).

3. Probabilistic Systems: Clear concept of systems that embed Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.

4. Technology Hands-on: Proven track record in at least one of following 3 technology groups

a. Front-end, client-end experience: User Interface Development (JavaScript, AJAX, Angular, React, D3); Human Computer Interface design

b. Server-side Engineering: Object-Oriented Programming, Micro-Services, Springboot, REST APIs, Design Patterns, Data Access Frameworks, proficiency in Java/ C++/Python

c. Data Engineering and Persistence (in any one of the below areas): Design and Development of Relational Databases; Big Data Systems (e.g., Data Lakes, Hadoop, Hive); In-Memory systems (SAP-HANA); Graph databases (e.g., Neo4J, Casandra); Data Ingestion and ETL

5. Cloud: Experience in design and deployment of IT solutions on Cloud (e.g., Dockerization, Containerization)

6. Communication: Ability to articulate key messages concisely and precisely

7. Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal and teaming skills

Additional Preference

1. Advanced Qualification: PhD in any Quantitative Discipline

Eminence: Patents, publications, thought leadership, invited speakership and conspicuous presence in refereed platforms or forums of repute.

Job Description

Responsibilities: -

• You would take ownership of the existing system and scale it more than 10X over the next 2 years.
• Apply best coding standards.
• You would create the infrastructure that can serve 100s of customers and millions of data requests per hour.
• Over the next year or so, you would be able to guide a team of 5 to 15 people to accomplish your goals. Mentoring this team into a world-class engineering team would be a key part of your role.
• Your earlier experience in successfully building, deploying and running complex, large scale web or data products.
• You would work hand-in-hand with the Product Management team to build engineering capabilities that align with the evolution of the product.
• Eventually work with Data science teamwork to ensure that the algorithmic intelligence that we build is plugged into the product in an expected manner.
• Overall, you would be responsible for end-to-end architecting from Engineering standpoint.

Must have: -

• Total experience of 8+ years while relevant experience of at least 2 years.
• Have built a platform that handles at least 500k to 1 million data request an hour.
• Worked on building an infrastructure that serves 200k+ customers.
• Hands on coder.
• Expert level knowledge in at least one technology stack - Python or ideally, Java. Also Angular, React, Node.js
• Expert level knowledge with Elastic Search or NoSQL technologies like MongoDB/HBase/Cassandra/Redis/Neo4j
• Experience developing web applications.
• Knowledge of multiple front-end languages and libraries (e.g. HTML/ CSS, JavaScript, XML, jQuery)
• Working knowledge of databases (e.g. MySQL, MongoDB), web servers (e.g. Apache) and UI/UX design.
• Devops experience working with AWS / Other cloud platforms.
• Strong knowledge of API’s.
