Master-O is a sales enablement platform used by leading enterprises across industries like FMCG, Pharma, Banking, Insurance, Automotive, Retail, Technology etc. to drive the capability development and frontline readiness for their customer-facing teams with the help of microlearning, game-based assessments and AI-powered conversational roleplays.

As we continue to expand our enterprise deployments across Pan India, North America, Middle East, and Southeast Asia, we are looking for a Tech Lead to take ownership of our engineering function and drive the successful delivery, implementation, and scalability of our solution.

The Role:

This is a high-ownership role for someone who enjoys building features, solving complex engineering problems, and collaborating with internal teams and customers. You will be leading a team of 5–6 developers and will be the face of the engineering function at Master-O.

Reporting directly to the Founder, this role requires someone who can balance engineering excellence with business priorities and ensure reliable delivery across multiple enterprise clients and geographies.

We are particularly interested in people who have prior worked in a growing SaaS organisation or have entrepreneurial experience and understand what it takes to build and deliver features from scratch.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Engineering Leadership & Technical Ownership

• Own the engineering function, including architecture, development, code quality, performance, scalability, security, and maintenance.
• Lead a team of 5-6 engineers, providing technical direction, reviewing code, ensuring timely delivery and nurturing their career path.
• Remain hands-on with development and debugging rather than functioning solely as a people manager.
• Establish engineering standards, development practices, testing protocols, and release processes.
• Make pragmatic technology decisions that balance long-term scalability with ad-hoc  business requirements.

2. Enterprise Implementations & Client Delivery

• Own the technical execution of our implementations with enterprise clients across the globe.
• Drive client-specific configurations, integrations, customizations, deployments, and production rollouts.
• Work closely with the Founder, Customer Success team, Product team, and other key stakeholders to translate client requirements into robust technical outcomes.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues, manage technical dependencies within team, and ensure implementation timelines and quality standards are met.
• Build reusable frameworks and integration capabilities that reduce implementation time and minimize repetitive custom development.

3. AI Engineering & Emerging Technologies

• Evaluate and implement AI capabilities that solve real enterprise problems and enhance product functionality.
• Experience integrating Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and AI agents into enterprise applications will be a strong advantage.
• Understand the practical considerations of deploying AI in production, including data security, reliability, latency, cost, and evaluation.
• Encourage responsible adoption of AI coding tools such as Claude Code while ensuring engineers retain strong fundamentals, understand the code they ship, and take ownership of its quality.

4. Team & Execution Management

• Take ownership of engineering priorities, sprint execution, resource allocation, and delivery commitments.
• Build a culture of accountability, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure the team can independently diagnose and resolve technical problems rather than relying excessively on external tools or generated code.
• Collaborate with leadership to align engineering priorities with customer commitments, product roadmaps, and business objectives.

Required Technical Skills:

• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js, Express.js, React, MySQL, Python, and AWS.
• Solid understanding of backend architecture, REST APIs, database design, system integrations, and cloud-based deployments.
• Experience building, maintaining, and scaling production-grade mobile and web applications.
• Strong debugging, code review, system design, and performance optimization skills.
• Familiarity with software development lifecycle practices, version control, automated testing, CI/CD, and production monitoring.
• Ability to make independent technical decisions and take ownership of issues from identification through resolution.

Experience & Qualifications:

• 8–10 years of relevant software engineering experience, with demonstrated progression into technical leadership.
• Prior experience leading a team of junior and mid-level engineers.
• Experience in a B2B SaaS company or an enterprise technology environment is strongly preferred.
• Experience managing enterprise client implementations, integrations, and production deployments.
• B.Tech / B.E. in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related engineering discipline, preferably from a Tier-1 engineering college.

You must be flexible to coordinate across time zones and work outside standard business hours when client implementations or critical releases require it.

JOB REQUIREMENTS • 10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in as a Development Lead, Engineering Manager, or similar leadership role. • Strong hands-on technical background in backend/frontend/cloud technologies. • Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and microservices architecture. • Deep understanding of SDLC, Agile methodologies, version control, and DevOps practices, containers, CI/CD, and scalable architectures. • Excellent leadership, decision-making, and project management, problem solving skills. • Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical and business information clearly. • Ability to handle multiple projects and thrive in a fast-paced environment. • Strong ownership mindset with a focus on delivering high-quality outcomes. • Passion for mentoring, building teams, and improving engineering culture. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Team Leadership & People Management • Lead, mentor, and manage the entire development team, including interns, junior developers, and senior engineers. • Conduct regular training sessions, knowledge-sharing meetings, and capability-building workshops. • Identify skill gaps and create growth plans for team members. • Manage performance reviews, provide feedback, and support career progression. • Create a culture of ownership, accountability, and high performance. Project & Delivery Management • Own the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) from planning to deployment. • Break down product requirements into sprint tasks and assign responsibilities. • Define and manage project deadlines, delivery milestones, and development roadmaps with the team. • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality features aligned with product goals. • Work closely with the CEO for project planning, updates, and escalations. • Ensure alignment between business needs and technical solutions. Technical Leadership • Provide architectural direction for scalable, secure, multi-tenant, multi-region systems. • Review code, ensure adherence to coding standards, and drive continuous improvements. • Evaluate and implement new technologies to keep the product stack modern and efficient. • Ensure best practices in security, performance, documentation, and DevOps pipelines. • Lead R&D initiatives for new features, tools, or tech stacks. Process & Quality Ownership • Implement and refine engineering processes, coding guidelines, and development workflows. • Ensure strict adherence to SDLC, secure development practices, and code review processes. • Introduce automation where possible (CI/CD, testing, deployment flows). • Drive continuous improvement in team productivity and software quality. • Conduct root-cause analysis and lead improvements to reduce bugs and downtime. Communication & Reporting • Act as the primary communication bridge between the CEO and development team. • Provide weekly project reports, progress updates, risk assessments, and performance insights. • Maintain transparency and clarity in project communication across the organization. Cross-Functional Collaboration • Work directly with the CEO, Product leadership, and other department heads. • Align technical decisions with business objectives and customer needs. • Support SOC, support teams, and clients for escalations when required.
