Senior Manual Tester / Testing Team Lead

Role Summary 

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manual Tester to join our Quality Assurance team. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in testing web, Android, and iOS applications and will take ownership of delivering reliable, user-friendly, and high-quality products. This role demands strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to lead and mentor other testers while collaborating closely with Product, Development, and Design teams. 

Key Responsibilities 

1. Requirement Analysis 

● Analyze business and functional requirements to define test scope. 

● Identify gaps/ambiguities and provide feedback to Product Managers. ● Participate in requirement and design reviews to ensure test coverage. 

2. Test Strategy & Planning 

● Develop comprehensive test plans covering functional, UI/UX, usability, and security testing. 

● Align testing timelines with project goals and release cycles. 

● Ensure QA processes follow industry best practices.

3. Test Case Design & Management 

● Create, maintain, and execute detailed test cases using JIRA and Zephyr Scale. ● Document expected vs. actual results to ensure traceability. 

● Continuously update test cases as features evolve. 

4. Test Execution & Validation 

● Execute manual tests across platforms (Web, iOS, Android). 

● Perform regression, compatibility, and cross-browser/device testing. ● Validate responsiveness, behavior, and usability of applications. 

5. Defect Tracking & Quality Management 

● Log, prioritize, and track bugs with clear steps(STRs), screenshots, and logs. ● Collaborate with developers to resolve issues effectively. 

● Verify fixes through systematic retesting. 

6. Exploratory & Ad-Hoc Testing 

● Conduct exploratory testing to uncover edge cases and unexpected behaviors. ● Perform ad-hoc/monkey testing to simulate real-world scenarios. 

7. Test Reporting & Documentation 

● Generate test summary reports, traceability matrices, and defect metrics. ● Provide transparent status updates to stakeholders. 

● Maintain comprehensive documentation of all QA activities.

8. Non-Functional Testing (Basic) 

● Conduct basic load, stress, and performance tests. 

● Validate security, scalability, and compatibility across environments. 

9. Environment & Data Management 

● Manage QA, staging, and pre-production environments. 

● Prepare test data for positive, negative, and edge-case scenarios. 

10. Collaboration & Agile Practices 

● Actively participate in DSMs and DSUs, sprint planning. 

● Partner with Product Managers, Developers, and Designers to drive quality. ● Suggest process improvements and advocate for QA best practices. 

11. Leadership & Mentorship 

● Lead and manage a team of manual testers, delegating tasks effectively. ● Coach and mentor junior QA members, fostering skill development and accountability. 

12. Preferred (Good-to-Have) 

● Basic knowledge of automation tools (Selenium, Espresso). 

● API testing experience using Postman (response validation, performance checks). 

Qualifications & Skills 

● 4–6+ years of manual testing experience in SaaS/web/mobile applications. ● Strong team leadership and people management skills.

● Expertise in functional, regression, exploratory, and mobile testing. ● Proficiency in QA tools (JIRA and Zephyr Scale). 

● Hands-on experience in cross-browser/device testing (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, iOS, Android). 

● Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban). 

● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

● Excellent written and verbal communication in English (Telugu/Hindi a plus). ● Proactive mindset with attention to detail and a passion for product quality.

Testing Coverage:

Capable of designing end-to-end test cases.

Strong in negative, edge-case, and performance scenarios coverage.

Process Knowledge:

Familiar with Agile ceremonies (Grooming, Sprint Planning, Retrospective) and QA roles and responsibilities.

Can contribute effectively in bug triage and RCA discussions.

5. Planning, deploying and managing the testing effort for any given engagement.

• As a Senior Software Test Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to test/qualify new products and enhancements to existing products as part of a cross functional team. You are required to verify and validate software changes for new products, enhancements and defects.
• Responsible for verifying that the software complies with the requirements and that the various customer use-cases can be satisfactorily met by the software.
• Work very closely with the project/baseline manager and development team to understand the architecture and design of the system and the interaction between various software sub-systems and components.
• Prepare and execute test plans for software releases, document and automate test cases to exercise the various features and capabilities of the software, identify and capture bugs and related information in the bug tracking database.
• Develop higher complexity test cases, test suite selection and execute all necessary testing activity required for a customer software release (negative and backward compatibility scenarios) per assignment, group objectives and product requirements.
• Document, enhance and maintain regression test procedures over the lifecycle of the software.
• Execute the software release test plans and certify that a software release has met the quality criterion(s) for various phase exits (pre-alpha, alpha, beta).
• Participate in troubleshooting and triaging of issues with different teams to drive towards root cause identification and resolution
• Independently manage schedule for his/her projects and deliverables, seamlessly works with all key stakeholders to ensure delivery is never on the critical path
• Consistently look out for areas of improvement in all areas of software product development and processes, champions implementation of identified best practices

• Strong understanding of SDLC processes and the QA lifecycle and methodology
• Prior experience in supervisory control systems software would be a plus (but not mandatory)
• Strong knowledge of software test methodologies, tools, standards and processes.
• Good hands on programing experience in any of the scripting/programming languages (C++, C#, Java Script)
• Strong interpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Prior experience of working in global teams and interfacing with multiple stake holders

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience of 5+ years working as a Quality Assurance Analyst
• Experience with test management tools such as Quality Centre, JIRA, ADO.
• Knowledge of automation tools like Selenium
• Knowledge of Non-Functional testing - Accessibility, Performance
• Educated to degree level, ideally in Computer Science
• ISEB certification in Testing (intermediate level) is advantageous
• Experience in participating in process change is advantageous
• Experience testing commercial websites in a creative and/or agency environment is advantageous
• Experience testing native iOS and Android applications is advantageous
