In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing complex medical records and extracting critical clinical data points to support Real-World Evidence (RWE) research and precision medicine initiatives. You will work within advanced data platforms to ensure that clinical information is captured with the highest degree of accuracy and clinical nuance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Detailed Data Extraction: Navigate Electronic Health Records (EHRs) to identify and abstract clinical data including cancer staging (TNM), histology, biomarkers (e.g., PD-L1, EGFR, KRAS), and treatment regimens.
- Treatment Mapping: Accurately document lines of therapy, drug administration dates, dosage changes, and reasons for treatment discontinuation.
- Outcome Analysis: Interpret radiology and pathology reports to determine disease progression or response based on standardized criteria (e.g., RECIST).
- Quality Assurance: Perform self-audits and peer reviews to maintain a high accuracy threshold (typically >95%) and ensure compliance with project-specific SOPs.
- Expert Consultation: Serve as a subject matter expert for internal teams (Product, AI/NLP, and Research) to refine data dictionaries and abstraction rules.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical data abstraction, with at least 3 years specifically focused on Oncology.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN), Pharmacy (B.Pharm/M.Pharm), or a related Life Sciences/Healthcare field (BDS/MBBS).
- Clinical Expertise: Mastery of oncology terminology, anatomy, physiology, and the current standards of cancer care.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with various EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, OncoEMR) and data curation tools.
- Precision: Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to interpret ambiguous or conflicting clinical documentation.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification as an Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C / CTR) or Clinical Research Professional (CCRP).
- Prior experience working with AI-assisted abstraction tools or in a Health-Tech/SaaS environment.
