Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Technical Consultant – Linux Platform & Virtualization to manage, support, and optimize enterprise Linux environments and virtualization platforms. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Linux administration, virtualization technologies, infrastructure management, troubleshooting, automation, and performance tuning in mission-critical enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, SUSE).
• Install, configure, patch, and upgrade Linux operating systems and related software.
• Manage virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere/ESXi, KVM, or Hyper-V.
• Monitor system performance, capacity, availability, and security of Linux infrastructure.
• Perform root cause analysis and resolve critical production issues within SLA timelines.
• Configure and manage storage, file systems, LVM, NFS, SAN, and NAS environments.
• Implement server hardening, security policies, user access management, and compliance standards.
• Automate routine administration tasks using Shell Scripting, Bash, or Python.
• Support backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.
• Work closely with application, database, networking, and cloud teams for infrastructure support.
• Perform system health checks, patch management, and capacity planning.
• Participate in production deployments, maintenance activities, and on-call support.
• Prepare technical documentation, SOPs, and knowledge articles.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of experience in Linux System Administration.
• Strong expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, Ubuntu, or SUSE Linux.
• Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, KVM, or Hyper-V.
• Strong knowledge of Linux networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SSH, NFS, FTP).
• Experience with storage technologies including SAN, NAS, LVM, and RAID.
• Proficiency in Shell/Bash scripting; Python scripting is an added advantage.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, or Grafana.
• Knowledge of automation tools like Ansible is preferred.
• Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
• Good understanding of ITIL processes, incident management, and change management.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Exposure to CI/CD tools and DevOps practices.
• Experience working in production support and high-availability environments.
• Relevant certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, VMware VCP, or Linux Foundation are preferred.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced RHEL Linux Administrator to manage and support enterprise Linux environments. The candidate should have strong hands-on expertise in system administration, patch management, automation, and performance tuning. This role requires proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and ensuring high availability of Linux platforms.

Must-Have Technical Skills

1. Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) & Solaris – In-depth Knowledge

Strong understanding of Linux system internals, kernel tuning, boot process, file systems, and performance monitoring. Ability to analyze logs and troubleshoot complex OS-level issues.

2. Patching Using Red Hat Satellite

Hands-on experience in managing repositories, content views, lifecycle environments, and performing patching activities through Satellite. Knowledge of repo sync and package management processes.

3. Ansible Automation

Experience in creating and executing Ansible playbooks for configuration management, patching, and user management. Ability to perform pre- and post-validation checks and automate routine administrative tasks.

4. Scripting Knowledge

Proficiency in Shell scripting or similar scripting languages to automate system administration tasks and operational processes.

5. Performance Monitoring & System Optimization

Experience in identifying performance bottlenecks and implementing tuning measures to ensure system stability and efficiency.

Good-to-Have Skills

1. GitHub / Subversion / TeamCity

Working knowledge of version control systems and CI/CD tools for automation and deployment workflows.

2. NFS & CIFS

Experience in configuring and troubleshooting network file systems and shared storage environments.

3. Networking, Storage & Virtualization

Good understanding of networking layers, storage concepts, database connectivity, and virtualization platforms.

4. AWX

Exposure to AWX for managing and scheduling Ansible automation workflows.

5. CI/CD & Automation Concepts

Understanding of automation frameworks, pipeline concepts, and DevOps practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure all tickets are addressed and updated within SLA in the ticketing tool.
• Participate in team rotation and support activities.
• Maintain Linux platforms in a highly available, secure, reliable, and performant state.
• Identify performance improvement opportunities and implement enhancements.
