Firmware Development Engineer
Position Summary:
As a Firmware Engineer in the New Product Development group, you will contribute to designing, developing, and delivering high-quality embedded solutions for electric actuator products. This role involves working across the full product lifecycle, from interpreting requirements to implementation and testing, ensuring alignment with Emerson’s standards for reliability, innovation, and customer satisfaction. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build scalable and compliant firmware solutions that meet both technical and regulatory expectations.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Design, implement, and enhance firmware for electric actuators, ensuring seamless integration with hardware systems
- Develop firmware solutions from concept through deployment, including coding, debugging, validation, and release activities
- Analyze and optimize firmware for performance, efficiency, and reliability against defined specifications
- Collaborate with hardware, software, and test teams to enable smooth system integration
- Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis to resolve technical issues and improve product quality
- Participate in all stages of product development, including design, prototyping, certification, and manufacturing support
- Stay updated with industry trends, tools, and methodologies to continuously improve firmware solutions and development practices

For This Role, You Will Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field
- Strong experience in embedded firmware development with the ability to work closely with hardware teams
- Proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems
- Hands-on experience with RTOS concepts and firmware development in RTOS environments
- Understanding of microcontrollers/microprocessors (16/32-bit) and peripheral interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, Ethernet, USB, and display systems
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with product development lifecycle processes and tools for configuration management and issue tracking
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a global engineering environment
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
- Experience working with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, HART, or Bluetooth
- Exposure to cybersecurity practices in embedded systems, particularly IEC62443 standards
- Experience in firmware development for motor control or actuator-based products
- Familiarity with Agile or SAFe methodologies
- Experience in delivering end-to-end product development from concept to production
Post: Embedded Developer
SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Proficiency and Hands on Experience on Embedded C, various protocols such as I2C, SPI, RS232 etc.
• Testing and debugging of hardware and firmware
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION
• B.E. E&TC , Electronics
• Certification in Embedded System Development/Application
• Minimum 1 years of Experience in same domain
- Hands-on embedded C skills (mandatory)
- Experience with any microcontrollers MCU (mandatory) – Renesas/ Infineon/ Cypress/ ST-Micro /TI / Microchip
- Experience with any of peripherals & communication protocols usage in application development (mandatory) – UART, I2C, SPI, I2S, CAN, USB, ADC, DAC, EEPROM, Flash memory
- Experience with any RTOS – FreeRTOS, Azure RTOS, ThreadX
- Experience with any networking & connectivity modules (preferred & added advantage) – Ethernet, WiFi, BLE, MQTT, COAP
