Job Summary:
The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and compliant working environment within the printing facility. This role focuses on managing workplace safety related to printing machinery, chemical handling (inks, solvents), fire hazards, electrical systems, and general industrial operations. The Safety Officer promotes a culture of safety and ensures compliance with occupational health and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies specific to printing operations.
- Conduct regular inspections of printing machines, cutting equipment, binding machines, and finishing equipment.
- Identify hazards related to inks, solvents, chemicals, paper dust, noise, and heat exposure.
- Ensure proper storage, labelling, and handling of hazardous chemicals (MSDS/SDS compliance).
- Monitor ventilation systems to control fumes and airborne contaminants.
- Oversee fire safety measures due to flammable inks, solvents, and paper materials.
- Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, masks, ear protection, and safety goggles.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Investigate accidents, near-misses, and machine-related injuries.
- Organize regular safety drills (fire drills, emergency evacuation).
- Ensure machinery safety guards and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures are followed.
- Maintain safety records, incident reports, and compliance documentation.
- Conduct safety training programs for machine operators and staff.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and ensure compliance with local labor and environmental laws.
Required Qualifications:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
- Professional safety certification preferred.
- 2–5 years of experience in industrial or manufacturing industry.
- Knowledge of chemical safety, fire safety, and machinery safety standards.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations regarding waste disposal
