Roles and Responsibilities of Junior Safety Engineer/Safety Engineer:
1. Implement and monitor the EHS management system at project sites.
2. Prepare, implement, and follow the EHS plan at project sites.
3. Interacting with all site teams to ensure that all EHS rules and regulations are followed at work locations at project sites.
4. Reporting to the safety head or project head about site EHS issues.
5. Conduct and highlight the requirement of safety through toolbox/ pep talk.
6. Implement and monitor the Permit to Work System.
7. Implement and Monitor the Safe Work System.
8. Conduct promotional and awareness program at the workplace.
9. Reporting of incident, accident, near misses, dangerous occurrences to the safety head or project head.
10. Participate and assist in the incident investigation and risk assessment program.
11. Regularly inspecting work areas, equipment and processes to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
12. Conduct first-day safety induction for the new workers and staff and maintain records.
13. Ensuring adequate PPE’s and safety equipment as required are available.
14. Conduct and participate in campaign competitions and other special emphasis programs to promote safety in the workplace.
15. Prepare the monthly calendar and conduct the EHS training as per plan.
16. Prepare and maintain the various EHS documents.
17. Inspect the equipment, tools, and machinery as per the checklist and maintain the records.
Occupational Health & Safety Management: Ø Handling government official's visits and its timely compliance, ensure renewal of fire NOC, Petroleum NOC, on site emergency plan approval etc.
> Develop a safe, pollution free work environment and robust EHS Culture at site.
> To enhance engagement of employees for building EHS culture.
Ø Improve the awareness and capabilities of people at site on EHS.
> Implementation of EHS Global Standards, Like work permit system , LOTO Permit , contractor safety management , chemical safety management , Personnel protective equipment, Incident reporting and investigation , Risk Assessment and process hazard analysis, change control management, Employee Engagement , Machine Safety procedure etc.
' Evaluation of training need assessment and ensure the compliance as per calender.
> EHS round on monthly basis with engaging department SLT's, shift in charges and EHS profesionals.
> Creating awareness among employees and workers by celebrating EHS Programs — National Safety Week, Road Safety Week, Fire Service week etc.
Ø Encourage near miss reporting, employee's reward and recognitions.
> Development of departmental EHS coordinators, encourage them to report unsafe observations , near miss reporting , conducting department EHS meet , participation in EHS promotional activities.
Ø Ensure electrical safety with coordination engineering department.
> Conducting job safety analysis, Risk Assessment & Process hazard analysis.
Ø Ensure standard PPE's requirement, use of need base PPE's and its safe disposal.
> Encourage and ensure incident reporting & investigation, root cause analysis and compliance of corrective action and preventive action.
> Ensure emergency preparedness and response compliance and ready to operate 24X7 fire Extinguishers, Fire Hydrant System, Fire alarm system, Public Announcement System, SCBA ,Safety shower, Spill control Kit, ambulance etc.
' Ensure pressure vessel, Lifting tool tackles, hoist and lifts etc. testing and compliance, form-9, form-33 etc.
> Workplace health & hygiene monitoring.
> Ensure the compliance of EHS legal register and compliance register.
Ø Ensure the compliance of local EHS procedures, EHS Manual, EHS Policy, On site emergency plan.

🔧 Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with government regulations and timely renewals (Fire NOC, Petroleum NOC, emergency plans, etc.)
- Promote a safe, pollution-free work environment and enhance EHS awareness.
- Implement global EHS standards: Work permits, LOTO, PPE usage, machine safety, and chemical safety protocols.
- Lead risk assessments, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and hazard analysis.
- Drive employee engagement through training, safety weeks, and recognition programs.
- Coordinate with engineering for electrical safety and ensure safe use of lifting tools, pressure vessels, hoists, etc.
- Manage emergency preparedness: Fire systems, SCBA, spill kits, showers, alarms, etc.
- Maintain and audit EHS legal and compliance registers.
- Conduct workplace hygiene monitoring and ensure PPE availability and safe disposal.

· Develop safety manuals with various safety procedures and standards that are to be followed at Ramky in consultation with the Head R&D, QA & Safety
· Conduct periodic safety training sessions for Ramky team and external contractor teams on safety procedures and standards.
· Assess the safety risks involved in any phase of the project and take proactive measures to ensure safety of resources involved in the implementation of the project phase
· Conduct field inspection activities as per approved inspection and test plans and escalate any deviations from safety standards to the Head R&D, QA and Safety.
· Ensure the timely implementation of corrective action proposed by the Head Safety on the safety
· Deviation cases.
· Facilitate the safety audits by the internal audit / designated audit committees
· Implement an occupational health & safety management system during the execution of projects & ensure elimination of accidents
· Manage the local pollution, effluents (solid, liquid and gas) from the facility within permissible limits
· Identify potential risk and accident areas and ensure proper warnings are displayed at these site areas
· Monitor the project execution activities to identify potential hazards and take steps to eliminate the same
· Establish a disaster recovery mechanism in case of hazards and emergency to minimize the impact
Desired Qualification:
· Minimum graduate in engineering or post-graduate in science with Safety certification from a reputed institute.
· Having a qualification in chemical engineering / science is preferred.
· Minimum 15 years or above work experience in OH&S is mandatory.
· Experience in the chemical industry, dealing with chemicals, knowledge on chemical compatibility, Hazard & Risk management are essentially desirable.
· Experience as overall leader for safety at corporate reporting to senior management at corporate driving the various safety leads and the entire safety system is essential
