Job description

• Database Design & Development:
• Design, implement, and maintain PostgreSQL databases.
• Develop efficient schemas, indexes, and stored procedures to optimize data performance.
• Backend Development:
• Develop RESTful APIs and backend services using Node.js.
• Integrate databases with backend applications for seamless data flow.
• Query Optimization & Performance Tuning:
• Optimize SQL queries for performance and scalability.
• Monitor database health and troubleshoot slow queries or deadlocks.
• Security & Compliance:
• Implement database security best practices, including role-based access control (RBAC) and encryption.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards like GDPR, HIPAA, etc.
• Data Migration & Backup:
• Develop and maintain data migration scripts between different PostgreSQL versions or other databases like mongodb.
• Set up and manage database backup and recovery strategies.
• Write efficient SQL queries and manage database schemas using PostgreSQL.
• Build RESTful APIs and integrate third-party APIs/services.
• Optimize application performance and troubleshoot production issues.
• Ensure data security and protection practices are followed.
• Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Rewrite existing APIs in NodeJS. 
• Remodel the APIs into Micro services-based architecture. 
• Implement a caching layer wherever possible. 
• Optimize the API for high performance and scalability. 
• Write unit tests for API Testing.
• Automate the code testing and deployment process.

Skills Required: 

• At least 2 years of experience developing Backends using NodeJS — should be well versed with its asynchronous nature & event loop, and know its quirks and workarounds. 
• Excellent hands-on experience using MySQL or any other SQL Database. 
• Good knowledge of MongoDB or any other NoSQL Database. 
• Good knowledge of Redis, its data types, and their use cases. 
• Experience with graph-based databases like GraphQL and Neo4j. 
• Experience developing and deploying REST APIs. 
• Good knowledge of Unit Testing and available Test Frameworks. 
• Good understanding of advanced JS libraries and frameworks. 
• Experience with Web sockets, Service Workers, and Web Push Notifications. 
• Familiar with NodeJS profiling tools. 
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git. 
• Good knowledge of creating and maintaining DevOps infrastructure on cloud platforms. 
• Should be a fast learner and a go-getter — without any fear of trying out new things Preferences. 
• Experience building a large scale social or location-based app.

Overview of the Role

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design and build performant modern web applications and services. Build high quality web applications and services by writing clean and modular code

Must have Skills

• 10+ years of experience in leading teams and delivering product, write unit and integration tests to ensure robustness and reliability of web applications and services. 
• Measure and improve performance of microservices.
• Catalyze growth within the team through code reviews and pair programming to maintain high development standards Investigate operational issues to find the root cause and propose improvements Design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and systems across Stripe’s engineering teams.
• Expert level of experience in design and development of Web Applications, highly scalable distributed systems.
• Should have experience in development skills using latest technologies including NodeJS, Microservices, Elastic search, Timescale DB, Kafka, Redis, etc.
• Should have exposure in NoSQL and SQL development.
• Comprehensive knowledge of physical and logical data modelling, performance tuning.

Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science or Computer Applications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in Node JS.
• Minimum 1 years of experience in Mongo DB (optional)
• Good Hands-on experience in Angular or React.
• Experience in designing and building large-scale, high availability, secure web applications and REST-full API using Node.js in an agile methodology.
• Good Hands-on experience in Node Js frameworks like Express, .

About the role:
We are seeking a Senior Backend Developer who has a knack for coming up with creative solutions to unique problems, planning development cycles and writing technical documentation while leading a team of developers. You should have experience with different design pattern implementation and be quick in making architectural decisions. You can get in where needed to write clean, reusable, and performant code, with creative sensibilities to push projects towards perfection. You should have good time management skills and be able to work both autonomously and collaboratively with a cross-discipline team of product managers, strategists, UX designers, art directors, and developers.

● Implemented CI/CD in any of the projects done
● Strong understanding of the full web technology stack (i.e. HTTP, caching, headers, cookies, etc)
● Proficiency in working with API’s and third party integrations
● Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies
● Experience with multi-tenant architectures (SaaS)
● Experience with Test Driven Development
● Excellent project and time management skills
