Senior DevOps Engineer

Objectives of this role

•Building and implementing new development tools and infrastructure

•Understanding the needs of stakeholders and conveying them to developers

•Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes

•Testing and examining code written by others and analysing results

•Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats

•Identifying technical problems and developing software updates and fixes

•Working with software developers and software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended

•Planning projects and being involved in project management decisions

Responsibilities:

• Set up CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and delivery

•Setup and management of new and Existing cloud-based Kubernetes cluster services

•Write Ad/Hoc Bash/Python scripts to automate certain operational tasks.

•Designing, maintenance and management of tools for automation of different operational processes.

•Provision of critical system security by leveraging best practices and prolific cloud security solutions.

•System troubleshooting and problem resolution across various application domains and platforms

•Support/maintain development, UAT and production infrastructure.

•Providing recommendations for architecture and process improvements.

•Respond to L2 calls and emails.

•Help administer monitoring systems, alerting, log management, and other IT infrastructure systems.

•Perform root cause analysis of production errors and resolve technical issues

•Design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance

Technical Skill Requirements:

•Experience in a DevOps role in AWS/OCI cloud environment.

•Must have experience with CI/CD Pipelines and hands-on experience with DevOps tools such as, Jenkins, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, etc.

•Strong knowledge in Terraform for multi-stack cloud infrastructure provisioning.

•Strong knowledge in OCI/AWS-based Kubernetes service management.

•Must have experience with Python/Bash as a scripting language.

•Good knowledge in software debugging, web applications and services (Apache, Nginx, HAProxy)

•Must have knowledge in monitoring setup with Prometheus, Alertmanager, Grafana, Thanos, Loki, Fluentbit, etc.

Good To Have Skills

•PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, Keycloak.

•Migrating application from one cloud to another; OCI certifications

•Test Driven Development

👩🏻‍💻 Your responsibilities would include-

• Building and maintaining operational tools for monitoring and analysis of AWS infrastructure and systems
• Actively monitoring the health and performance of all systems and performing benchmarking and tuning of system applications and operating systems
• Setting up container orchestration using Kubernetes or other orchestration system for a monolithic application
• Continually working with development engineers to design the best system architectures and solutions
• Troubleshooting and resolving issues in our development, test, and production environments
• Maintaining reliability of the system and being on-call for mission-critical systems
• Performing infrastructure cost analysis and optimization
• Ensure systems’ compliance with operational risk standards (e.g. network, firewall, OS, logging, monitoring, availability, resiliency)

• You are proficient with bash, git and git workflows
• You have 3-5 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar software engineering role
• You have excellent attention to detail
• AWS certification preferred but not mandatory

• Hands-on knowledge on various CI-CD tools (Jenkins/TeamCity, Artifactory, UCD, Bitbucket/Github, SonarQube) including setting up of build-deployment automated pipelines.
• Very good knowledge in scripting tools and languages such as Shell, Perl or Python , YAML/Groovy, build tools such as Maven/Gradle.
• Hands-on knowledge in containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker, OpenShift and Kubernetes.
• Good knowledge in configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet/Chef and have worked on setting up of monitoring tools (Splunk/Geneos/New Relic/Elk).
•             Expertise in job schedulers/workload automation tools such as Control-M or AutoSys is good to have.
• Hands-on knowledge on Cloud technology (preferably GCP) including various computing services and infrastructure setup using Terraform.

• Should have basic understanding on networking, certificate management, Identity and Access Management and Information security/encryption concepts.
• •             Should support day-to-day tasks related to platform and environments upkeep such as upgrades, patching, migration and system/interfaces integration.
• •             Should have experience in working in Agile based SDLC delivery model, multi-task and support multiple systems/apps.
• •             Big-data and Hadoop ecosystem knowledge is good to have but not mandatory.

• Should have worked on standard release, change and incident management tools such as ServiceNow/Remedy or similar

• Hands on experience in AWS provisioning of AWS services like EC2, S3,EBS, AMI, VPC, ELB, RDS, Auto scaling groups, Cloud Formation.
• Good experience on Build and release process and extensively involved in the CICD using

Jenkins

• Experienced on configuration management tools like Ansible.
• Designing, implementing and supporting fully automated Jenkins CI/CD
• Extensively worked on Jenkins for continuous Integration and for end to end Automation for all Builds and Deployments.
• Proficient with Docker based container deployments to create shelf environments for dev teams and containerization of environment delivery for releases.
• Experience working on Docker hub, creating Docker images and handling multiple images primarily for middleware installations and domain configuration.
• Good knowledge in version control system in Git and GitHub.
• Good experience in build tools
• Implemented CI/CD pipeline using Jenkins, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes ,YAML and Manifest

Responsibilities

1. Deployment, management, and administration of web services in a public cloud environment
2. Design and develop solutions for deploying highly secure, highly available, performant and scalable services in elastically provisioned environments

4. Own all operational aspects of running web services including automation, monitoring and alerting, reliability and performance

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science or closely related field
2. 4 - 6 years professional experience in DevOps, with at least 1/2 years in Linux / Unix
3. Very strong in core CS concepts around operating systems, networks, and systems architecture including web services
4. Strong scripting experience in Python and Bash
5. Deep experience administering, running and deploying AWS based services
6. Solid experience with Terraform, Packer and Docker or their equivalents
7. Knowledge of security protocols and certificate infrastructure.
8. Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills 
9. Broad experience with cloud hosted applications including virtualization platforms, relational and non relational data stores, reverse proxies, and orchestration platforms
10. Curiosity, continuous learning and drive to continually raise the bar
11. Strong partnering and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

1. Past experience as a senior developer or application architect strongly preferred.
2. Experience building continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines
3. Experience with Zookeeper, Consul, HAProxy, ELK-Stack, Kafka, PostgreSQL.
4. Experience working with, and preferably designing, a system compliant to any security framework (PCI DSS, ISO 27000, HIPPA, SOC 2, ...)
5. Experience with AWS orchestration services such as ECS and EKS.
6. Experience working with AWS ML pipeline services like AWS Sagemak

We are looking for very hands-on SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) engineers with 3 to 6 years of experience. The person will be part of team that is responsible for designing & implementing automation from scratch for medium to large scale cloud infrastructure and providing 24x7 services to our North American / European customers. This also includes ensuring ~100% uptime for almost 50+ internal sites. The person is expected to deliver with both high speed and high quality as well as work for 40 Hours per week (~6.5 hours per day, 6 days per week) in shifts which will rotate every month.

This person MUST have:

• B.E Computer Science or equivalent
• 2+ Years of hands-on experience troubleshooting/setting up of the Linux environment, who can write shell scripts for any given requirement.
• 1+ Years of hands-on experience setting up/configuring AWS or GCP services from SCRATCH and maintaining them.
• 1+ Years of hands-on experience setting up/configuring Kubernetes & EKS and ensuring high availability of container orchestration.
• 1+ Years of hands-on experience setting up CICD from SCRATCH in Jenkins & Gitlab.
• Experience configuring/maintaining one monitoring tool.
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
• Candidates with certifications - AWS, GCP, CKA, etc will be preferred
• Hands-on experience with databases (Cassandra, MongoDB, MySQL, RDS).

Experience:

• Min 3 years of experience as SRE automation engineer building, running, and maintaining production sites. Not looking for candidates who have experience only as L1/L2 or Build & Deploy..

Timings:

• The person is expected to deliver with both high speed and high quality as well as work for 40 Hours per week (~6.5 hours per day, 6 days per week) in shifts which will rotate every month.
