The selected Sr. Backend engineer will ship the backbone that powers 4 million + learners in 64 countries—owning APIs that crunch 1 billion learning events & the AI that supports it with <200 ms latency.

What You'll Do:

At LearnTube, we’re pushing the boundaries to revolutionize how the world learns. As a Senior Backend Engineer, your roles and responsibilities will include:

• Shipping Micro-services – Build FastAPI services that handle ≈ 800 req/s today and will triple within a year (sub-200 ms p95).
• Power Real-Time Learning – Drive the quiz-scoring & AI-tutor engines that crunch millions of events daily.
• Design for Scale & Safety – Model data (Postgres, Mongo, Redis, SQS) and craft modular, secure back-end components from scratch.
• Deploy Globally – Roll out Dockerised services behind NGINX on AWS (EC2, S3, SQS) and GCP (GKE) via Kubernetes.
• Automate Releases – GitLab CI/CD + blue-green / canary = multiple safe prod deploys each week.
• Own Reliability – Instrument with Prometheus / Grafana, chase 99.9 % uptime, trim infra spend.
• Expose Gen-AI at Scale – Publish LLM inference & vector-search endpoints in partnership with the AI team.
• Ship Fast, Learn Fast – Work with founders, PMs, and designers in weekly ship rooms; take a feature from Figma to prod in < 2 weeks.

What makes you a great fit?

• 3+ yrs Python back-end experience (FastAPI)
• Strong with Docker & container orchestration

Role & Responsibilities:

We are seeking a Software Developer with 2-10 year’s experience with strong foundations in Python, databases, and AI technologies. The ideal candidate will support the development of AI-powered solutions, focusing on LLM integration, prompt engineering, and database-driven workflows. This is a hands-on role with opportunities to learn and grow into advanced AI engineering responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain Python-based applications and APIs.

• Design and optimize prompts for Large Language Models (LLMs) to improve accuracy and performance.

• Work with JSON-based data structures for request/response handling. • Integrate and manage PostgreSQL (pgSQL) databases, including writing queries and handling data pipelines.

• Collaborate with the product and AI teams to implement new features. • Debug, troubleshoot, and optimize performance of applications and workflows.

• Stay updated on advancements in LLMs, AI frameworks, and generative AI tools.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Mentor To Go is an android and web based platform to help students improve their work readiness through self-learning sessions, personalised mentorship provided by mentor professionals from a range of careers, and work experience opportunities.

The technology platform implements  functionalities such as: screening surveys of mentors and mentees, training content for mentors, matching through an algorithm, and mentorship through the delivery of structured activities. 

The application technology architecture comprises of the following:

o   a Python Django web application with NGinx and Gunicorn

o   PostgreSQL database

o   A React Android and Web app

o   Rest APIs which interact between the Android app and the Django webserver

Our vision at Mentor To Go is to provide career mentorship to young people anywhere, anytime across the length and breadth of India.

We are looking for a backend software developer who is passionate about using web technologies to solve social problems and creating experiences that are elegant and effective. You will own the back end development of features of the Mentor To Go platform from conceptualisation through design and testing, working closely with other developers, the technical project manager, and the program operations team. You are user-centric, continuously demonstrate strategic & analytical abilities, and are laser focused on executing at speed. You must have the ability to succeed in a fast paced environment, where success is dependent on your ability to collaborate with cross-functional team members in a positive, productive, and transparent way.

Minimum requirements 

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferably  CS  or related discipline  
• 3+ years experience working in Unix/Linux environments building web and mobile applications
• Proficiency in developing and deploying cloud based Python/Postgresql applications preferably using frameworks such as Django
• Experience with design and development of moderately complex software projects
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Familiarity with version control software such as Git

Desired  requirements 

• 5+ years of overall relevant work experience
• Experience building apps using React/React-Native
• Basic understanding of AWS cloud
• Ability to participate in technical discussions and help make technical trade-offs
