Sr. Staff Engineer Role

We are looking for a customer-obsessed, analytical Sr. Staff Engineer to lead the development

and growth of our Tax Compliance product suite. In this role, you’ll shape innovative digital

solutions that simplify and automate tax filing, reconciliation, and compliance workflows for

As the Sr. Staff Engineer, You’ll work closely with product, DevOps, and data teams to architect

reliable systems, drive engineering excellence, and ensure high availability across our platform.

Responsibilities

● Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing engineering team (or operate as a hands-on

technical lead).

● Drive the design and development of scalable backend services using Python/Node.js.

● Experience in Django, FastApi, Task Orchestration Systems.

● Own and evolve our CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, ensuring fast, safe, and reliable

deployments.

● Architect and manage infrastructure using AWS and Terraform with a DevOps-first mindset.

● Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and compliance experts

to deliver features that make tax compliance seamless for our users.

● Set and enforce engineering best practices, code quality standards, and operational

excellence.

● Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advocate for continuous improvement in

engineering processes.

● Experience in fintech, tax, or compliance industries.

● Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes.

● Background in security, observability, or compliance automation.

Requirements

● 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or

principal-level role.

● Deep expertise in Python/Node.js, including API development, performance optimization,

and testing.

● Experience in Event-driven architecture, kafka/rabbitmq like

● Strong experience with AWS services (e.g., ECS, Lambda, S3, RDS, CloudWatch).

● Solid understanding of Terraform for infrastructure as code.

● Proficiency with Jenkins or similar CI/CD tooling.

● Comfortable balancing technical leadership with hands-on coding and problem-solving.

● Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain web applications using Laravel and Vue.js (PHP) framework.

Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and solve complex problems.

Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.

Test and debug applications to ensure they meet functional and performance requirements.

Qualifications

Strong proficiency in PHP programming language

Experience with Laravel framework

Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery

Understanding of MVC architecture

Experience with database management systems such as MySQL

Familiarity with version control systems such as Git

Ability to write clean, efficient, and well-documented code

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred)

Relevant certifications such as CodeIgniter Certified Developer (optional)

Responsibilities:

- Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure solutions on Microsoft Azure, with a focus on scalability, security, and cost optimization.

- Collaborate with development teams to streamline the deployment process, ensuring smooth and efficient delivery of software applications.

- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab CI to automate build, test, and deployment processes.

- Utilize infrastructure-as-code (IaC) principles to create and manage infrastructure deployments using Terraform, ARM templates, or similar tools.

- Manage and monitor containerized applications using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) or other container orchestration platforms.

- Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for cloud-based infrastructure and applications.

- Ensure high availability, performance, and security of cloud infrastructure and applications.

- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and best practices in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and automation.

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

- Minimum of four years of proven experience working as a DevOps Engineer or similar role, with a focus on cloud infrastructure and deployment automation.

- Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure services, including but not limited to Azure Virtual Machines, Azure App Service, Azure Storage, Azure Networking, Azure Security, and Azure Monitor.

- Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or ARM templates.

- Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration platforms, preferably Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) or Docker Swarm.

- Solid understanding of CI/CD principles and experience with relevant tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.

- Experience with scripting languages like PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation tasks.

- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a proactive and analytical mindset.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

- Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator, Azure DevOps Engineer, Azure Solutions Architect) are a plus.

Your Day-to-Day Role:

• Design and implement web applications from initial concept, architecture design, to completed, operational software.
• Lead complex engineering tasks where you’ll act as the technical authority.
• Contribute to code reviews and continuous integration.
• Adapt and apply cutting edge technologies.
• Collaborate with other engineers, designers, and product owners to define elegant customer solutions.
• Ensure robustness by writing automation tests for your code.

What Are We Looking For:

At least 3 years of professional experience in Fullstack development.

Mandatory Technical Skills

• Robust experience in MERN Stack (MongoDB, ExpressJS, ReactJS, NodeJS). Expertise in ReactJS, Redux, HTML, CSS.
• Proficiency in Javascript (ES6) and TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience in Socket Implementation.
• Solid understanding of GIT and its workflows.

Good to Have Skills (Optional)

• Familiarity with Material UI.
• Experience with HTML Canvas APIs (Ex: KonvaJS for canvas drawing).
• Basic understanding of AWS services (S3, Redis, Lambda, Messaging services, etc.).

• Work on building custom web pages and websites for departmental applications.
• Work on improvements to existing web pages and sites, as well as connecting to backend databases to extract and store data.
