Data Scientist

Role: Core infrastructure for two global applications.

Key responsibilities:

Heavy Data Lifting: Designing and maintaining complex MongoDB aggregation pipelines and executing high-volume bulk updates.

Systems Connectivity: Managing the lifecycle of Bridges, WebSockets, and REST APIs for global traffic.

Global Reliability: Troubleshooting performance regressions, managing SSL/TLS certificates, and optimizing AWS S3/EC2 resources.

Core Logic: Implementing server-side push notifications, custom payment flows, and background Cron orchestration.

Requirements (Must Have)

Production Experience: Proven experience managing backend services for live, high-traffic applications. (Must have)

Note: Learning projects, bootcamps, and online courses will not be considered.

Python Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in backend Python development. (Must have)

MongoDB Expertise: Deep knowledge of Aggregations and Bulk operations. (Must have)

AWS Proficiency: Direct experience with S3 and EC2 in a production setting. (Must have)

Infrastructure Logic: Ability to manage SSL/Encryption and optimize resource allocation (Cron vs. API). (Must have)

Strong Senior Backend Engineer profiles

Mandatory (Experience 1) – Must have 5+ years of hands-on Backend Engineering experience building scalable, production-grade systems

Mandatory (Experience 2) – Must have strong backend development experience using one or more frameworks (FastAPI / Django (Python), Spring (Java), Express (Node.js).

Mandatory (Experience 3) – Must have deep understanding of relevant libraries, tools, and best practices within the chosen backend framework

Mandatory (Experience 4) – Must have strong experience with databases, including SQL and NoSQL, along with efficient data modeling and performance optimization

Mandatory (Experience 5) – Must have experience designing, building, and maintaining APIs, services, and backend systems, including system design and clean code practices

Mandatory (Domain) – Experience with financial systems, billing platforms, or fintech applications is highly preferred (fintech background is a strong plus)

Mandatory (Company) – Must have worked in product companies / startups, preferably Series A to Series D

Mandatory (Education) – Candidates from top engineering institutes (IITs, BITS, or equivalent Tier-1 colleges) are preferred

Responsibilities:

• Help define and create Backend architecture and deployment using Python- Django-AWS in an agile environment with lots of ownership and active mentoring

• Work with the Product and Design teams to build new features to solve business problems and fill business needs

• Participate in code reviews to create robust and maintainable code

• Work in an agile environment where quick iterations and good feedback are a way of life

• Interact with other stakeholders for requirement, design discussions and for adoption of new features • Communicate and coordinate with our support and professional services teams to solve customer issues

• Help scale our platform as we expand our product across various markets and verticals globally

Role Responsibilities:

• Development and Maintenance of REST APIs: Lead the creation and management of our RESTful APIs, ensuring top-notch performance and alignment with evolving requirements.
• Proficiency in Coding: We're in search of expertise in Python or equivalent programming languages. Your coding skills will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality (efficient, reusable, testable, and scalable) solutions.

You have 5 years or more of Backend end development experience with expertise in designing and implementing high-performance applications.

Worked with and built high-performance products using Node Js/GoLang/ Python and have seen the product evolution cycle from PoC to Production

You have a deep understanding of design principles and can rightly judge/implement solutions to complex problems

You are capable of writing high-quality code that conforms to the standards and best practices in a particular language/framework.

You have experience building a product using a mainstream library or framework.

You love to own end to end responsibility, starting from defining the problem statement (either yourself or alongside your peers), development (PoC if needed), testing, releasing in staging & then production environment, and finally monitoring.

Previous work experience in product-based startups

Experience building for products that have scaled and have seen the product evolution
