Mactores is the agent-native AWS modernization firm. Most modernization work doesn't ship, it stalls in pilots, slips a year, or lands at three times the budget. We exist to ship it: production systems running, legacy retired, outcomes measured. Our delivery is built on Aedeon, the agent platform built by Mactores' founders' sister company, which absorbs the repetitive 60–70% of engagement work, discovery, dependency mapping, validation, test generation, that traditional consulting bills human hours against. Forward-deployed engineers own the rest: architecture, judgment, and cutover, on dates we commit to in the contract.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Developer to lead and support Oracle to PostgreSQL/Aurora PostgreSQL migration initiatives. The role involves deep hands-on work across SQL refactoring, schema conversion, DMS operations, performance tuning, and post–go-live stabilization. The candidate will work closely with application teams, cloud engineers, and stakeholders to ensure a smooth, performant, and compliant migration.

What you will do?

• Refactor and convert Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, and database objects to PostgreSQL-compatible SQL/PLpgSQL.
• Analyze and remediate AWS SCT (Schema Conversion Tool) findings and limitations.
• Manage and maintain Flyway migration codebase (versioned scripts, repeatable migrations, rollbacks).
• Identify, troubleshoot, and fix database-related application bugs.
• Perform query optimization for PostgreSQL (execution plans, indexing strategies, query rewrites).
• Support and monitor AWS DMS during full load and CDC phases.
• Diagnose and resolve DMS data and performance issues.
• Perform data validation and reconciliation between Oracle and PostgreSQL.
• Collaborate with application teams to align SQL behavior and performance expectations.

What are we looking for?

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience as an Oracle/PostgreSQL DBA and database developer.
• Strong experience with Oracle Database and PostgreSQL / Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Hands-on expertise in Oracle to PostgreSQL migration.
• Advanced SQL and query performance tuning skills.
• Experience with AWS SCT and AWS DMS.
• Knowledge of Flyway/Liquibase or similar schema migration tools.
• PostgreSQL internals: indexing, statistics, execution plans.
• AWS services: RDS/Aurora, CloudWatch, IAM (preferred).

You will be preferred if:

• Familiarity with automation and configuration management tools, such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
• Familiarity with IAAC tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation.
• Familiarity with CI/CD implementation tools like Liquibase/Flyway.
• AWS Certified Database – Specialty.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect.

• 2-5 years relevant work experience in building multiple users software solutions
• 1-2 years hands on experience building cloud based web and mobile applications
• JavaScript, React, NodeJS, structured and unstructured store
• Strong Front End or Back end experience
• Hands on experience building Restful APIs
• Hands on experience building microservices based applications
• Understanding of DevOps / DevSecOps processes and related tools including, but not limited to, IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation), config management (Chef, Puppet), Git / Bitbucket, or Jenkins, etc.
• Hands on experience with multiple frontend or backend technologies (either) / frameworks / platforms supporting web and mobile applications – Such as: NodeJS, Python, Django, Flask, PHP, Laravel, jQuery, Bootstrap, Angular, Vue.js, ReactJS, Bootstrap, React-Native, Flutter, iOS SDK, or similar.
• Hands-on end to end experience of multiple application development frameworks, monitoring tools, and deployment methodologies
• Experience building and deploying with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes and leveraging them throughout the CICD process
• Understanding of practices regarding system security measures

Requirements

• 3 to 9 years of experience developing C# .NET applications
• Experience with .NET Core 2.1 and or 4.5, MVC frameworks, Web API, Entity Framework 6 or above
• Experience with SOLID design principles
• Excellent communication and documentation skills is a must
• Experience with agile development process including scrums, Kanban boards, sprint reviews, and backlog grooming sessions
• Experience with front end technologies such as Bootstrap, CSS, JavaScript, and other front-end libraries such as VueJS, React, or Angular
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, including the Portal and DevOps

Responsibilities:

• Exploring and visualizing data to gain an understanding of it, then identifying differences in data distribution that could affect performance when deploying the model in the real world.
• Verifying data quality, and/or ensuring it via data cleaning.
• Able to adapt and work fast in producing the output which upgrades the decision making of stakeholders using ML.
• To design and develop Machine Learning systems and schemes. 
• To perform statistical analysis and fine-tune models using test results.
• To train and retrain ML systems and models as and when necessary. 
• To deploy ML models in production and maintain the cost of cloud infrastructure.
• To develop Machine Learning apps according to client and data scientist requirements.
• To analyze the problem-solving capabilities and use-cases of ML algorithms and rank them by how successful they are in meeting the objective.

Technical Knowledge:

• Worked with real time problems, solved them using ML and deep learning models deployed in real time and should have some awesome projects under his belt to showcase. 
• Proficiency in Python and experience with working with Jupyter Framework, Google collab and cloud hosted notebooks such as AWS sagemaker, DataBricks etc.
• Proficiency in working with libraries Sklearn, Tensorflow, Open CV2, Pyspark,  Pandas, Numpy and related libraries.
• Expert in visualising and manipulating complex datasets.
• Proficiency in working with visualisation libraries such as seaborn, plotly, matplotlib etc.
• Proficiency in Linear Algebra, statistics and probability required for Machine Learning.
• Proficiency in ML Based algorithms for example, Gradient boosting, stacked Machine learning, classification algorithms and deep learning algorithms. Need to have experience in hypertuning various models and comparing the results of algorithm performance.
• Big data Technologies such as Hadoop stack and Spark. 
• Basic use of clouds (VM’s example EC2).
• Brownie points for Kubernetes and Task Queues.
