Backend Developer - MERN Stack

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and test low-latency, high-volume client-facing applications.
• Develop and maintain enterprise-scale, n-tier applications for the investment banking/capital markets domain.
• Implement microservices-based solutions using Spring Boot and other modern frameworks.
• Work extensively with Core Java 5.0 and above, Spring Framework, and CXF
• Optimize applications for multi-threading and high-performance server-side development
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient solutions
• Work with RDBMS (preferably Sybase) to handle large-scale data processing.
• Develop and maintain applications on Unix/Linux environments
• Utilize enterprise application design patterns to build robust and scalable solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues while ensuring application stability and performance.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience in Java development
• Strong knowledge of microservices architecture and cloud-based deployment.
• Expertise in Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and CXF
• Experience in developing and optimizing applications for high-volume, multi-threaded environments
• Solid understanding of financial domain applications, sales, and trading platforms
• Proficiency in working with relational databases (Sybase preferred)
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments and shell scripting.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to articulate and present design ideas effectively.

The tech stack looks like the below (expect this to change as we scale):

1. Typescript for APIs (REST and GraphQL)
2. Kafka, Spark, and data warehouses for ML pipelines (spark on python/scala)
3. Solidity + hardhat for smart contracts (in the future, rust, go and move)
4. AWS & Terraform
5. Full nodes

You can expect to do some or all of the following:

1. Read through protocols’ whitepapers and smart contracts to derive metrics and analyze risks
2. Architect the backend for APIs, async jobs, and blockchain integration
3. Build clean, concise APIs for customer integration, along with the documentation
4. Setup, run and maintain full and archive nodes across different chains
5. Integrate with multiple partners like exchanges and custody providers
6. Fool-proof security across the stack - encryption, hashing, privacy, VPC, etc.
7. Infrastructure as code - build terraform scripts and ensure easy replication of the infra across different regions
8. Research the top DeFi protocols to uncover better insights for our customers and evaluate their risk profiles, security, and historical returns
9. Manage production deployments, logging, and monitoring

We expect you to be fairly comfortable with working with both web3 and web2 stacks. We do not expect that you have web3 experience on day 1, but you should be willing to wear multiple hats, learn things quickly and move fast.

3. Understand the fundamentals of building and integrating APIs and secure systems. Bonus if you know a bit about blockchains and protocols
4. You can be strong on the backend, front-end, or can dabble everywhere. We want you to play to your strengths and will provide enough opportunities to learn and do things outside of your comfort zone

The Role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic Technology Lead (Python or Node), who adopts a hands-on approach and loves to build scalable, distributed and large web / mobile products. You would be responsible for designing the architecture, reviewing the code, building the technology and deploying web/mobile applications.

Responsibilities:

• Own the product development from scratch.
• Design and implementation of low-latency, high-availability, and performant applications.
• Architect scalable software solutions and mentor a team of high performing developers.
• Participate in code reviews, design reviews, SCRUM ceremonies, and troubleshoot to ensure uptime for live systems etc.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field from a premier college.  
• Prior 4+ years of experience in back-end development (Python/ Golang) in a start-up or a dynamic work environment.
• Good exposure in writing and optimizing SQL for high-performance systems.
• Understanding of asyncio and eventloop/ uvloop concepts. Knowledge of frameworks such as Quart/ Fastapi/ Starlette is preferred.
• Knowledge of AWS; Caching technologies like Redis, Memcache; ELK; mySQL Databases, etc.
• Strong understanding of System Design, Microservice Architecture, Kafka, Pub/Sub, Message queues, and in-memory data stores etc.
• Customer oriented, responsive to changes, and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

SQL DBA, IMPLEMENTATION, SQL, DBMS, DATA WAREHOUSING

The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing high-quality applications. They will also be responsible for designing and implementing testable and scalable code.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field
• Development experience with programming languages
• MongoDb database or relational database skills

Out of many tools and technologies, we use Java, MongoDb, Cassandra, Redis, Twem, Netty extensively for our back-end development.

Required background, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• 5.5+/ 7+ Years of experience in a scalable product/ecommerce organization·       
• Excellent Java skills, Understanding of Spring framework & MVC approach
• Strong knowledge of Performance optimization and caching techniques.
• Strong Object Oriented Programming concepts, data structure and algorithms
• Experience in developing scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed backend services
• Experience with prevalent design patterns and advanced system designing
• Good experiences with databases and Schema design. We heavily use NoSQL databases
• Strong Problem Solving skills
