Backend Engineer

Key Responsibilities: 

• Rewrite existing APIs in NodeJS. 
• Remodel the APIs into Micro services-based architecture. 
• Implement a caching layer wherever possible. 
• Optimize the API for high performance and scalability. 
• Write unit tests for API Testing.
• Automate the code testing and deployment process.

Skills Required:

• At least 3 years of experience developing Backends using NodeJS — should be well versed with its asynchronous nature & event loop, and know its quirks and workarounds. 
• Excellent hands-on experience using MySQL or any other SQL Database. 
• Good knowledge of MongoDB or any other NoSQL Database. 
• Good knowledge of Redis, its data types, and their use cases. 
• Experience with graph-based databases like GraphQL and Neo4j. 
• Experience developing and deploying REST APIs. 
• Good knowledge of Unit Testing and available Test Frameworks. 
• Good understanding of advanced JS libraries and frameworks. 
• Experience with Web sockets, Service Workers, and Web Push Notifications. 
• Familiar with NodeJS profiling tools. 
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git. 
• Good knowledge of creating and maintaining DevOps infrastructure on cloud platforms. 
• Should be a fast learner and a go-getter — without any fear of trying out new things Preferences. 
• Experience building a large scale social or location-based app.

💥 What will you do?

As a Backend Engineer, you will

• Create and maintain server-side code
• Designing database schemas to support business requirements
• Building reusable code and libraries for future use
• Troubleshoot and debug applications
• Write unit tests
• Stay up to date with current best practices
• Collaborate with front end engineers
• Optimization of the application for maximum speed and scalability
• Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data, and Design teams to assist with web-application-related technical issues and support their requirements.

While we do not have a strict list of requirements for candidates interested in this role, some indicators that you would fit this role and our engineering culture are 

• 2+ years of relevant work experience as a Backend engineer using Python frameworks like Django, Flask, etc
• Experience with relational databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL
• Good understanding of OOP concepts
• Understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
• Basic understanding of front-end technologies and platforms, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Experience writing unit tests for the application is a plus
• Experience with building REST APIs
• Superior analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

• 5 years experience with the Django framework
• Experience with building APIs (REST or GraphQL) 
• Strong Troubleshooting and debugging skills
• React.js knowledge would be an added bonus 
• Understanding on how to use a database like Postgres (prefered choice), SQLite, MongoDB, MySQL.
• Sound knowledge of object-oriented design and analysis.
• A strong passion for writing simple, clean and efficient code.
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools Git.

Experience:

• Min 5 year experience
• Startup experience is a must. 

Location:

• Remote developer

Timings:

• 40 hours a week but with 4 hours a day overlapping with client timezone.  Typically clients are in California PST Timezone.

• 2+ years of experience in Python, Django, Mongo, Express, MySQL, etc
• Have built applications capable of serving high volume with low latency in production
• Following practices of agile development with continuous integration/deployment
• Experience in deploying applications in AWS cloud
• Knowledge in building applications for Fintech/payments domain is a bonus
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS or equivalent from a reputed institution
• Self-starter, hustler, and a desire to achieve greatness is a MUST
• Immediate joining preferred
• You will have the flexibility to design the application and systems from the ground up.
• Your primary responsibility is to implement business logic in the backend and create awesome restful APIs for seamless integration with our mobile front end.

Role & Responsibilities -:

3. Strong knowledge of Akamai CDN, Redis, AWS services
4. Understanding of LAMP and MVC design patterns
5. Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3, JS

1. Knowledge of Payment Gateway
2. Familiarity with MySQL/ PgSQL/ Mongo databases
3. Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
4. Understanding accessibility and security compliance
5. Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application.
6. User authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and

environments

Skills:

1. Building and maintenance of applications.
2. Extensive understanding of project management processes, principles and

methodologies.

Qualification:

1. B. Tech in Computer Science or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
2. Master’s degree in Computer Applications /M Tec. would be preferred.
