I'm still confused with the idea of marketing bot.

Though marketing is all about recognition, I highly believe that marketing and sales are both sides of a page. Whats the whole point of marketing bots when Human interference is the key element/strategy of marketing.Ā

Marketing Bot is a huge generalization. It all depends on what your marketing does, if custserv is big part of your marketing KRA (which would be if you are B2C or SAAS B2B company), then being always on and quickly giving information to your customers is important. If you'd be in custserv you'd know that how painful is to train and ensure that your customers get the answers they want quickly and efficiently. So much money goes in training, retraining the custserv folks. One of the successful case studies of bot is an airport which gave all their customer service executive a bot to quickly search answer to queries the customers were asking and increase knowledgbase, all new bot frameworks allow such powerful NLP engines to understand the intent and catch the intent if that is not understood.Hope that helps!Ā

Let me start by saying in every industry there is some common behaviour between the one who is looking to avail services and the one who is looking to provide services,And it has three major steps,This can be described as funnelAcquisition, Behaviour, conversionUsing social media by using tags #tags related with your business you can easily gain the attraction of people who are looking for related services. So acquisition part can be more likely done through the Social media with no investment.

Is it better to deploy app in multiple phases or should we deploy all features at once? While releasing app for the first time

Hello everyone,I am creating an android application and most of the features of the application has been completed. But when i completed one feature i got some others functionalities in my mind which i can deliver. So my question is what should be the best way while launching your app for the first time. Should i deliver all the functionalities at once or should i keep some functuionalities for the next release. I am also aware with the fact that giving more functionalities also increases the development time (when you are working alone).

Hi Vaibhav,I'd highly recommend understading "lean methodology". You can refer to this page:Ā https://leanstack.com/running-lean-bookCouple quick points I'd like to make:Don't worry about someone stealing your ideas. People significantly devalue other people's ideas and even if they find them good, are too busy to work on them. Most likely you yourself will change it in next 3-6 months. :)Optimize everything for learning. The first thing you want to test is whether there are enough users who have a problem you're trying to solve. Release just the minimal landing page, app store page and the actual 1 or 2 features to solve 1 problem. Adding more features comes only later when you are past this stage.Ā All the best!Nikunj

What are the challenges faced by the Drift and Intercom users in India?

We are trying to fill in the market gap left by the chat bots like drift and intercom via a new chat product at Freshworks. To help us make something really awesome, I want to know the problems faced by the intercom and drift users.

Been using Intercom for a while:Only allows 120 unique events to be sent (throws error for others). If my product is diverse enough or i have more than 1 offerings 120 is low number (which acc to their team is a hard limit, cannot be changed on account basis.). They do talk of jargon "Personalised Marketing" but stop you from doing that right away!Testing Engage. For a superior product experience we use Intercom Engage, to send automated message to user as they progress through there onboarding. They do have a test-app feature where you can change or create message (in test-app) which are reflected in test accounts/server/domain but they dont have a process to move/copy it to production app.Pricing is not fair to sliding window products- Since we have a sliding window product (users use the product and go away for 9-10 months and then come back later). We end us paying for those user during inactive 9-10 months period, which is a waste.Hope freshworks build a better product :)PS: If you think this was relevant Upvote!

Slack's growth is insane !

What was Slack's key conceptual innovation (not features) over its competitors that enabled it to grow so rapidly?

I'd say more than just features, they were the ones who found a problem and solved it. There positioning was different than the other Instant messaging apps. They had positionining statement : "Where work happens"; hence, they are positioned as a work collaboration platform where as all the others like Flock came after them. They had the first mover advantage. Second thing is, they rolled it out for free initially. So people who were using Hangouts or other chat messengers in their offices started giving it a try. Hence, according to me, it was not the features that mattered but the gap they filled in the market with a great product. It was the word of mouth marketing that worked extremely well for them. They sponsored podcasts with big and loyal listeners, and tried to build brand awareness using them. They did subtle marketing with these podcasts and made the people aware of the name "Slack", until they started their own podcats which gained viral popularity. This virality was aided by a well worsed social media startegy from facebook and youtube, which would just make the people come to listen to their podcasts once, and once it was done, there was no looking back.

VWO vs Optimizely: Which is a better A/B Testing tool?

Ā I have heard a lot about VWO & it's conversion optimisation but when it comes to A/B Testing which one is better?

I have used fair amount of CRO and A/B testing tools in my career till date, I think I can help you in this decision. It's not the product that matters but the usability and the goal you're trying to achieve using that product. Both the products are world class and have different target audiences to cater to. Optimizely is mainly Enterprise focused where as VWO is more focused towards catering to SME's and Mid-Market companies. If you're looking for a complete CRO where you get the end to end functionality along with detailed reports and recommendations, Optimizely caters to your needs. If you are looking only for A/B testing capabilities and small features like screen recordings and heatmaps, VWO is good. VWO doesn't bore a big hole in your marketing budget. If you're looking for even cheaper alternatives, have a look at Hotjar or Zarget. At the end of the day, it is you who has to decide which product suits all your needs and fits your budget. If you have any other question, feel free to email me on [email protected] :)

How to keep generating/tracking high-quality A/B idea backlog after a long duration of high-velocity testing?

At the beginningĀ of high-velocity testing, we had lots of A/B ideas but when creatingĀ over 500 A/B ideas, finding high-quality A/Bs was a hard thing to do. I would like to know what you guys are doing to keep generating/tracking high-quality backlogs after a long duration of high-velocity testing.

I do not know about the best way, but I do it in the following manner.I prepare an excel sheet where I list down all the poor performing landing pages in the rows and I write down the experimentation with the various web elements in the columns. For both the A/B variant I keep tracking the number before and after and based on that I keep a track of the data for the things working for me. Hence, for each page, I set a template, which version of the web elements worked I have a full historical knowledge about it. And I keep doing these in a time frame of around 6 months. The duration of each experiment varies from page to page as the traffic is different on each page, also depends on what significance level you want to work with.Ā Check this tool by VWO :Ā https://vwo.com/ab-split-test-significance-calculator/Ā orĀ https://clevertap.com/ab-testing-calculator/They can help you decide what time period you need to run each experiment for. In Freshmarketer, this is inbuilt and you can simply put the significance levels while setting up the experiment and it automatically notifies you when the experiment has enough data and pauses it, sending you a final report which tells you which version of A/B worked well for you.

Hosting your company's blog on Medium. Makes sense?

More and more companies are hosting their blogs on Medium these days. It's simple, fast and looks so much better than even the best of Wordpress themes. However, many marketers see issues in this approach.Ā What do you think?

This is a tricky one. :)We *almost* migrated our blog to Medium from Wordpress around 10 months ago. But the thought of giving away all our content to a 3rd party and losing SEO benefits made us change our mind. Wordpress won for us in the end.I think we made the right choice. With self-hosting, we control the entire UX of our users and are able to freely use the tools for lead generation, cross marketing and so on. And the biggest advantage - our users stay on our blog when they finish an article. On Medium, they are much more likely to move on to the content of our competitor. :)I'd admit though. Medium keeps getting better. The design, writing experience, sharing experience and social features are hard to say no to. So in the end - you guessed it right. We are also on Medium where we republish our content after a period of 2-3 weeks: https://medium.com/cutshort

Best time for product marketing or promotion

Hi,I am developing a product basically an android app. Most of the part of the application has been completed . I have a small doubt regarding marketing. The doubt is should i start marketing or promotion of my app after completing the app or should i start the promotion along with the development.Ā And what is the best way to reach out the customers or users . My app is for everyoneĀ  so threre is no specific area i am focusing. It is for all people.I have created a landing page of app and soon going to host the website. Apart from this what are the other ways to reach out maximum no of users.Ā

Hi Vaibhav,I believe that your app would be able to engage user with its current feature. If so, then i think you should start marketing. If its for all, then FB promotions would be a good option to reach out users. Also, if you are able to buy email DB from somewhere like justdial, shine, naukari etc, then you can send mailers as well. Also, to create a brand appearance, its better to have basic website up and running and also try to get some blog posts for your app. If people see brand name here n there on the internet then they intend to trust the app more. So, the promotional activity should be full fledged in all vertices. All the very best for your launch.
