Job Description – Mainframe Developer

Position: Mainframe Developer

Experience: 6+ Years

Location: Chennai & Pune

Work Mode: Work From Office (WFO)

Key Skills Required

• Strong hands-on experience in COBOL
• Good knowledge of JCL
• Strong experience with DB2
• Hands-on experience with VSAM
• CICS knowledge/experience is good to have
• Strong understanding of Mainframe application development and support

Role & Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, maintain, and troubleshoot Mainframe applications
• Write and modify COBOL programs
• Create and maintain JCL jobs
• Work with DB2 databases and SQL queries
• Handle VSAM files and related processing
• Analyze production issues and provide timely resolutions
• Perform debugging, root-cause analysis, and code fixes
• Participate in application enhancements, testing, and deployment activities
• Collaborate with onsite/offshore teams and business stakeholders
• Follow standard development, testing, and release processes

Candidate Requirements

• 6+ years of relevant Mainframe development experience
• Strong proficiency in COBOL, JCL, DB2, and VSAM
• CICS knowledge will be an added advantage
• Good problem-solving and debugging skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Candidates who can relocate to Chennai or Pune are welcome

Mainframe Developer/Analyst

Combination of COBOL, JCL, VSAM with DB2 – Resources need to be strong developers.

Technical Skills:

• 5 to 10 years of Hands on Development experience

• Very good Hands-on in Cobol, JCL, VSAM, Db2, Mainframe Utilities,

• Strong Coding experience in COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM.
• Work experience in CICS / MQ series.
• Strong analytical skills to analyze complex code independently and extract business rules.
• Willingness to WFO (5 days WFO) (No WFH).
• JAVA / JSON will be added advantage.

• Ability to design, code, unit test, turnover, implement and support the changes.

• Writing and executing the unit test scenarios/cases to ensure the code quality and reliability.

• Deep understanding of all lifecycle components (code, test, deploy)

• Ability to present designs to peers and Product Owner for approval.

• Troubleshooting and debugging code to resolve technical issues.

• Optimizing application performance to ensure efficient use of software resources.

• Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
