Job Description: Mainframe Production Support Engineer

Job Title: Mainframe Production Support Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Production Support Engineer with strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, and distributed application support. The ideal candidate will be responsible for production monitoring, incident management, troubleshooting, job scheduling, and ensuring the stability and availability of business-critical applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide production support for mainframe and distributed applications.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve production incidents and application issues within defined SLAs.
• Work extensively with COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and CICS for application support and issue resolution.
• Monitor batch jobs, investigate job failures, and ensure timely completion of scheduled processes.
• Manage and monitor batch job scheduling using Control-M.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring incidents and implement preventive measures.
• Monitor application performance using APM tools and identify performance bottlenecks.
• Coordinate with development, infrastructure, database, and other support teams to resolve complex issues.
• Support production releases, deployments, and change management activities.
• Maintain incident documentation, operational procedures, and support runbooks.
• Ensure application availability, stability, and adherence to production support SLAs.

• Ability to work effectively in a production support environment and coordinate with multiple teams.
