As a member of the development group, you will be primarily responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the product:  

• Help define and create full stack architecture and deployment using React- Django-AWS in an agile environment with lots of ownership and active mentoring. 
• Work with the Product and Design teams to build new features to solve business problems and fill business needs 
• Participate in code reviews to create robust and maintainable code 
• Work in an agile environment where quick iterations and good feedback are a way of life 
• Interact with other stakeholders for requirement, design discussions and for adoption of new features 
• Communicate and coordinate with our support and professional services teams to solve customer issues. 
• Help scale our platform as we expand our product across various markets and verticals globally.

🧠 What You'll Do

• Lead design and development of highly scalable and performance-sensitive enterprise applications using Java and Spring frameworks.
• Design non-trivial systems that are secure, robust, and aligned with modern software design principles.
• Work closely with Solution Architects and cross-functional teams to interpret client requirements and translate them into technical deliverables.
• Oversee and contribute to full-cycle development: from requirement analysis and technical design to coding, testing, deployment, and support.
• Mentor and guide junior developers through code reviews, design discussions, and process adherence.
• Bring improvements in and ensure best practices in coding, architecture, documentation, and DevOps processes.
• Conduct performance tuning and scalability planning for production-grade systems.
• Drive automation, CI/CD practices, and code quality through tooling and frameworks.

🛠️ Key Skills & Requirements

Technical Skills:

• 8+ years of hands-on development experience with Java 8 and above .
• Expert hands in Java and Spring Framework.
• Excellent understanding of data structures, algorithms, and RDBMS concepts (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle).
• Practical knowledge of scalable system architectures.
• Proficient in using build and engineering tools like Maven/Gradle, Git, Jenkins, etc.
• Comfortable with performance analysis, optimization, and profiling tools.
• Solid grasp of unit testing frameworks like JUnit and Mockito.

Leadership & Process:

• Experience leading software development teams or projects.
• Strong estimation, scheduling, and resource planning capabilities.
• Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication and presentation skills; ability to work closely with business and technical teams.

Technical Experience :

- Net development work experience.

We are looking for a Product Engineer - Senior Backend Engineer to join our early stage startup with experience in building B2C products.

Mentor To Go is an android and web based platform to help students improve their work readiness through self-learning sessions, personalised mentorship provided by mentor professionals from a range of careers, and work experience opportunities.

The technology platform implements  functionalities such as: screening surveys of mentors and mentees, training content for mentors, matching through an algorithm, and mentorship through the delivery of structured activities. 

The application technology architecture comprises of the following:

o   a Python Django web application with NGinx and Gunicorn

o   PostgreSQL database

o   A React Android and Web app

o   Rest APIs which interact between the Android app and the Django webserver

We are looking for a backend software developer who is passionate about using web technologies to solve social problems and creating experiences that are elegant and effective. You will own the back end development of features of the Mentor To Go platform from conceptualisation through design and testing, working closely with other developers, the technical project manager, and the program operations team. You are user-centric, continuously demonstrate strategic & analytical abilities, and are laser focused on executing at speed. You must have the ability to succeed in a fast paced environment, where success is dependent on your ability to collaborate with cross-functional team members in a positive, productive, and transparent way.

Minimum requirements 

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferably  CS  or related discipline  
• 3+ years experience working in Unix/Linux environments building web and mobile applications
• Proficiency in developing and deploying cloud based Python/Postgresql applications preferably using frameworks such as Django
• Experience with design and development of moderately complex software projects
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Familiarity with version control software such as Git

Desired  requirements 

• 5+ years of overall relevant work experience
• Experience building apps using React/React-Native
• Basic understanding of AWS cloud
• Ability to participate in technical discussions and help make technical trade-offs
