What you will do:
As a Senior Control and Automation Engineer, you will be a subject matter expert and leader in industrial control and automation for our electrolyzer systems. You will be pivotal in developing, designing, and optimizing sophisticated control and SCADA systems to support our next generation electrolyzers. Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of comprehensive C&A architectures (DCS, PLC, SCADA, HMI) for our high temperature, high pressure electrolyzers.
- Develop and implement advanced process control strategies for safe, efficient, and reliable operation of electrolyzer units and integrated plant systems, managing high temperatures, pressures, and multi-phase flows.
- Design control strategies to effectively manage the electrolyzer system when coupled with intermittent and dynamic power input from renewable energy sources (solar, wind).
- Ensure all C&A systems comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations (e.g., SIL, HAZOP), and best practices for hazardous environments.
- Specify, select, and configure appropriate instrumentation (sensors, transmitters, control valves) for demanding operating conditions.
- Develop, test, and commission PLC and DCS logic, HMI screens, and SCADA systems.
- Provide expert-level support for troubleshooting, identifying improvements, and implementing optimization strategies for C&A and Instrumentation for our systems.
- Create and maintain detailed technical documentation (P&IDs, control narratives, logic diagrams, etc.).
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (process, mechanical, I&C).
Skills you will need:
Must have:
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and commissioning C&A systems in demanding industrial environments like oil & gas, chemical, petrochemical, or thermal power plants.
- Proven experience with designing control systems for high-temperature (80-90°C) and high-pressure (5-16 barg) processes.
- Demonstrable experience with multi-phase systems (gas/vapor and liquid).
- In-depth understanding and application of control logics and hardware architectures.
- Proficiency with major PLC (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric) and DCS (e.g., Emerson, Honeywell, Yokogawa, ABB) platforms.
- Strong experience with SCADA and HMI development software.
Should have:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics/ Electrical Engineering, Control & Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field.
- Sound knowledge of advanced automation design principles and best practices.
- Experience in sizing, selection, and integration of complex automation components and instrumentation.
- Ability to solve complex interdisciplinary problems related to process control and automation.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, OPC).
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards (e.g., ISA, IEC).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and mentor.
Nice to have:
- Experience in designing control systems to handle intermittent and dynamic power supplies from renewable energy sources.
- Experience with the design and control of systems where multiple process units (e.g., electrolyzer stacks) are integrated with a common Balance of Plant (BOP), including load sharing and resource management.
- Knowledge of electrolyzer technology or hydrogen production processes.
- Experience with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and functional safety lifecycle (IEC 61508/61511).
- Experience with model predictive control (MPC) or other advanced process control techniques.
What we offer:
- Salary: Matching industries standards.
- Holidays: 12 days of customary national/state holidays, 18 days of paid vacation accrued monthly and 12 days of sick leave.
