Systel, Inc. is looking for a lead software developer to help build a development team to tackle critical software projects internally and R&D for external projects. The candidate will be overseeing day-to-day operations and working with stakeholders to prioritize projects and tasks. A successful candidate will need to be involved in all aspects of the software development lifecycle and the implementation of software systems, processes, and policies.
You’ll be working with various departments to implement critical applications that will improve the organization’s manufacturing efficiency and impact the bottom line. You’ll also be responsible for new project research and development. The candidate must have good organizational skills and the ability to work without direct supervision.
Duties and Responsibilities (Work from Office Only):
Team Lead
- Experience in the different phases of the Software Development Lifecycle
- Organize the team around departmental and organizational priorities
- Define and enforce software development policies and procedures according to industry standards
- Ensure software development, deployment, and management are done according to department policy
- Responsible for meeting, measuring, and reporting team metrics and SLAs
- Work with stakeholders to identify quarterly and annual goals
- Ensure projects are staying on track for goals and set deadlines
Software Development
- Design and development of new features or applications
- Testing and deployment of applications as required
- Integration of internal applications with third-party software
- Rewrite legacy internal applications on a modern technology stack
- Keep up with the latest industry trends and technology by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations.
Software Maintenance
- Proactive monitoring and support of internal applications
- Respond to and resolve requests (bug report, new feature) from users within defined SLAs
- Training or directing users on the correct use of software applications
Documentation
- Accurately maintain records of requests, transactions, problems, and actions taken
- Participate in defining and following department standards in documentation
- Actively document new processes and procedures
- Actively work to improve documentation
- All other assigned tasks and duties.
- All work activities shall be conducted in a manner that supports Systel’s Quality Manual, Quality Policy, Quality Objectives, System Level Procedures (SLP), and Work Instructions (WI).
- Design and develop the Travelers web application.
- Integration of internal applications with third-party software
- Proactive monitoring and support of internal applications
- Experience with backend technologies (C#,.NET,.NET Core, Web API)
- Fundamental understanding of front-end technologies like JavaScript, React, HTML, and CSS
- Working knowledge of Azure, Microsoft SQL, PostgreSQL, or similar database technology
- Experience with Git and knowledge of automated build tools such as Jenkins

Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Education
Degree in software engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field. Alternatively, vocational schooling with relevant coursework
Experience
- I would like to see at least 5 years of software development experience
- I would like to see at least 1–3 years of leadership experience
Requirements
- Experience with C# .NET
- Experience developing web applications using front-end JavaScript frameworks
- Experience designing and developing Web Services and APIs
- Experience with MS SQL Server or similar relational database
- Experience developing desktop applications is a plus
