Responsibilities

• Build high quality systems and applications that solve key challenges for the customer
• Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to elicit and understand their requirements, challenges and develop potential solutions
• Proactively identify areas of improvements, come up with innovative solutions, and drive adoption
• Push boundaries on infrastructure and cost optimisation, reusability, simplicity and scalability • Own significant engineering projects end-to-end
• Sign-off on all significant architectures and technical designs regardless of front-end or back-end.
• Translate business requirements to tangible engineering deliverables
• Setup and streamline processes and introduce best practices to improve the overall efficiency and throughput of the engineering team
• Be an effective mentor and help in building capacity in the larger team, strategize and work towards helping junior engineers grow
• Stay current with latest tools, technologies, methodologies and ideas; spread the knowledge and conduct effective POCs to demonstrate applicability and benefits

Requirements

• 15+ years of strong experience in developing highly scalable backend and middle tier enterprise applications.
• Strong experience with large volume batch and real-time data processing applications
• Experience building enterprise SaaS applications. Strong knowledge of AWS.
• Programming Languages: Java (must have), Python (good to have)
• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent from premier institutes
• Strong in problem solving, data structures and algorithm design.
• Clear Object Oriented Design and Design Pattern concepts
• Significant experience working with non-functional requirements such as performance, security, compliance, automation etc.
• Experience developing AI-based solutions is a big plus.
• Comfortable working in a fast paced startup environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Attention to detail

Work closely with the team at all levels to solve technical challenges including being hands on if required 7. Evaluate and identify appropriate technology solutions to meet business and technology challenges. 8. Ensure scalability, security, reliability, performance and cost effectiveness 9. Keep abreast of evolving technologies and how those may benefit our business. Anticipate technological evolution that could be leveraged to enhance current architectures or used to design new ones.

The Opportunity - Collaborate with the Founder to build a comprehensive vision and product roadmap - Build out the architecture, team, technology stack and platform - Set the tone, best practices, and overall strategy for technical operations – from coding, project management, documentation, architecture, and scaling – and rigidly adhere to their implementation, adjusting as needed - Own & report on technology related metrics, always looking for a way to improve our users’ experiences - Identify and incorporate growing trends and best practices in technology, evaluate and identify appropriate technology platforms - Lead strategic planning to achieve goals within timelines by identifying and prioritizing development initiatives and setting timeframes for development and deployment - Recruit, hire and lead a high quality technology team, with close collaboration and communication with a top notch data science team - Recommend technologies that support company organizational needs internally - Maintain a governance process that meets government, partner, and company expectations for information privacy - Communicate the company’s technology strategy to investors, management, staff, partners, customers, and stakeholders - Develop and manage a multi-year technology roadmap, ensuring the deployment of architectural solutions that are secure, scalable, comprehensive and maintainable - Assist the CEO with fundraising and strategy, Product & Operations Leads with feature roadmapping The Individual - We are looking for a candidate with the following skills, experience and attributes: - Must have been involved with multiple startups (some successful and others a learning experience) - Must be a hands-on entrepreneurial CTO, who has worked at least one high profile startup - Strong network to recruit from within (India and/or overseas) - Experience in leading the full cycle of web and mobile application development processes, from design to implementation - Experience with Python development and object-oriented design - Experience building web applications using MVC frameworks (Django is a plus) - Extensive knowledge of and experience with SMS, USSD or other protocols for mobile communication standards, particularly GSM - B.S. or Masters in computer engineering or related discipline, from reputed university - A natural leader - Loves the intensity, chaos and passion of start-ups, and wants to work with a fun-loving team who truly enjoy working together to realize a shared dream - Team player who is takes ownership of work, is detail and deadline oriented, with a strong work ethic Compensation & Logistics This is a full-time opportunity. • Experience with complex end to end Cloud migrations to AWS/Azure
• Experience in cloud technologies including designing solutions that use AWS services such as EKS, RDS, S3, ALB, CloudWatch, ElastiCache and Lambda
• Experience in the consulting field with excellent leadership, customer service, oral and written skills, project pricing, and presentation skills
• Certified Solutions Architect with one of the major cloud providers will be a plus

About the role: The Product & Engineering function at Wandertrails is an exciting and challenging place to work, where cutting edge technology meets problem solving and business process modelling. The function takes care of all the technology products used to drive the business and operations at Wandertrails including a developed-from-scratch CRM, Operations portal, Host reservation PWA and most significantly the www.wandertrails.com website. Additionally, the team looks at all integrations between Wandertrails and 20+ partners within and outside the travel industry.
