Sr. NodeJS Developer

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Node.js Developer with deep expertise in backend engineering and related frameworks. The ideal candidate will be a strong problem solver, effective communicator, and proven mentor capable of leading development initiatives while ensuring code quality, scalability, and performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to multiple backend development projects ensuring high-quality delivery.
• Collaborate with business analysts, architects, and cross-functional teams to define technical specifications and gather requirements.
• Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance applications using Node.js and related frameworks.
• Develop detailed HLD (High-Level Design) and LLD (Low-Level Design) solutions.
• Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering knowledge sharing and growth.
• Participate in peer code reviews, ensuring adherence to best practices and coding standards.
• Optimize performance, concurrency, and scalability of applications.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and ensure smooth deployment processes.
• Support and troubleshoot production issues, providing L3 support as required.
• Continuously research, evaluate, and integrate new technologies to improve applications and processes.
• Establish and enforce engineering best practices within the team.
• Actively participate in recruitment and talent-building initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5–10 years of strong professional experience in Node.js and frameworks like Express.js.
• Proficiency in MERN stack (preferred but must be heavy on Node.js).
• Strong understanding of multi-threading, concurrency, and performance optimization.
• Solid debugging, troubleshooting, and performance profiling expertise.
• Hands-on experience with source control systems (Git) and CI/CD environments.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented and service-oriented application development.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and in team settings with high ownership.

Technical Skills:

• Extensive experience in programming/scripting languages and frameworks in at least two Node.js, Java Springboot, and Python.
• Understanding of architectural patterns like Flux and MVC is a desirable
• Work experience in REST API service, Socket connections, and mechanisms to handle real-time async data is important.
• Strong knowledge in OOPS, GIT, SQL/nonSQL DB (such as Elastic DB, Mongo DB, MySQL), Design Patterns
• Preferred to have experience with microservices, API gateway, AAA service
• Good knowledge of coding standards, design patterns, unit testing frameworks, TDD, CI/CD practices.

Must have previous experience in leading a team-

• Experience with RESTful web services, CSS, and HTML5 is desirable-
• Experience with designing and building APIs with REST/Microservices
• Good to know about AWS Lambda & supporting configuration knowledge. Knowledge of any of the serverless frameworks like Serverless, AWS SAM would be an advantage.-
• Good to know of API Gateway and CloudFront.-

• Hands-on expertise in Payment Gateway Integration
• Proficient in MySQL Database Management

As a Senior Software Engineer, you need to have:
● Advanced knowledge of PHP, Nodejs, MySQL, HTML/CSS, Javascript etc.
● Some experience in managing engineering teams of 5-20 people.

Work Details:
● Your work will involve managing software development team via web and mobile
technologies like PHP/Laravel, MySQL, Node.js, MongoDB, React, Angular, Ionic, AWS
etc.
● Lead, Coach and mentor a strong and passionate team of web and mobile Engineers and Designers
● Drive new features and improve performance
● Define or Review architectural standards and processes
● Drive performance analysis and optimization efforts
● Help set and fulfil the engineering hiring plan for the team including sourcing, screening
and interviewing
● Represent the team in engineering and product meetings
● Work with teams across Squareboat to ensure a seamless user experience for our
client's customers
● Champion continuous improvement to help raise the bar on quality, performance and
maintainability
● Keep abreast of the changes in the industry and champion new technologies and
development processes within the team

You need to have:
● 5+ years of relevant software development experience
● Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related
technical discipline
● A good understanding of the software development lifecycle
● Some interesting side projects you have done or a Github profile with real open source
contributions will be a big plus

Good to Have Skills:

• 2+ years of experience in using Java/J2EE tech stacks

• Experience in technical mentorship/coaching is highly desirable.
• Understanding of AI/ML algorithms is a plus.
