Brief Description

We're seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer/Tech Lead to join our team. As a backend engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying scalable backends for the products we build at NonStop. This includes APIs, databases, and server-side logic. Also, guiding the mentoring the junior team members

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy backend systems, including APIs, databases, and server-side logic
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code that adheres to industry standards and best practices
• Code Quality: Ensure code quality through code reviews, adherence to best practices, and continuous improvement

Requirements

• At least 5+ years of experience building scalable and reliable backend systems
• Strong expertise in NodeJS/NestJS, Express, PostgreSQL
• Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems
• Proficiency in database design (SQL and NoSQL)
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and CI/CD pipelines
• Deep understanding of design patterns, data structures, and algorithms
• Hands-on experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes
• Familiarity with Frontend Development Technologies (React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS)
• Exceptional communication and leadership skills
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns
• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and methodologies
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Responsibilities:-

• Produce clean, efficient code based on specifications
• Integrate software components and third-party programs
• Verify and deploy programs and systems
• Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing software

Requirements:-

• Overall 3-7 years of software engineering experience working with web applications and backend systems.
• At least 2 years of experience in production environment working with Ruby on Rails along with common libraries such as RSpec, Sidekiq, Redis.
• Strong understanding of concepts like MVC, ORM, and RESTful
• Strong understanding of Object Oriented Programming fundamentals.
• Strong understanding of server-side templating languages like SLIM and CSS pre-processors like SASS.
• Basic understanding of front-end technologies such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Strong experience working with Linux like Operating Systems and shell environments like Bash, ZSH.
• Strong knowledge of integrating multiple databases into one system.
• Basic understanding of systems architecture and fundamental design principles behind a scalable web application.
• Ability to understand business requirements, derive database schemas and translate them into technical specifications and code.
• Strong hands on experience of Relation Databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL with ability of benchmarking and performance optimisation.
• Strong knowledge of any NoSQL database like MongoDB.
• Strong experience practicing TDD and writing test cases to achieve highest code coverage.
• Experience working with search engines like Elasticsearch, Solr is a plus.

We are looking for a Node.js Developer who is proficient with writing API's, working with data, using AWS and capable of applying algorithms mainly machine learning-based to solve problems and create/modify features for our students. Your primary focus will be the development of all server-side logic, definition and maintenance of the central database, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end. You will also be responsible for integrating the front-end elements built by your co-workers into the application. Therefore, a basic understanding of front-end technologies is necessary as well.
