Architectural layout annotation and preparation
- Collect and organize architectural layout drawings. Gather CAD files and 2D drawings from available sources such as portfolios and available drawings datasets, categorize them based on the building type and format.
- Clean and preprocess layout images. Remove title blocks, legends, and non-layout elements. Enhance contrast and remove noise to create clean, training-ready images.
- Identify and fix layout quality issues. Document and correct problems such as missing walls or unclear boundaries, flag unfixable drawings for exclusion.
- Label spaces and rooms in each layout. Identify and label all spaces (bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, office, etc.) using text annotations. Create metadata files listing space types and approximate areas for each layout.
- Create binary masks for space types. Generate pixel-level masks for each space type, ensure masks align precisely with layout boundaries and save in organized folder structure.
- Identify and mask structural elements. Mark and create separate masks for walls (interior, exterior, load-bearing), columns, doors, and windows; document wall types and thicknesses where identifiable.
- Annotate ambiguous or uncertain spaces where type is unclear from annotations, use geometry and contextual clues (adjacent spaces, fixtures, dimensions) to make informed classifications, flag uncertain cases for review.
