Role Overview

As a Software Development Engineer III (Backend), you will operate as a senior

individual contributor owning mission-critical backend systems. You will design

scalable architectures, solve complex distributed systems problems, and influence

engineering standards across teams.

Roles & Responsibilities

 Own backend systems end-to-end, from design and implementation to

production reliability and long-term evolution.



Design scalable, fault-tolerant, and low-latency backend architectures for real

time and event-driven use cases.



Lead system design decisions including data models, service boundaries, async

workflows, and scalability strategies.



Build and operate high-throughput services handling millions of events, requests,

or messages per day.

 Own reliability metrics such as p95/p99 latency, uptime, error budgets, and

participate in incident resolution and post-mortems.

Drive architectural migrations including monolith to microservices and

synchronous to asynchronous flows.

 Collaborate with product, frontend, and data teams to translate complex

requirements into robust backend solutions.



Improve developer productivity by contributing to internal platforms, tooling,

CI/CD pipelines, and coding standards.



Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and technical guidance

without direct people management.



Proactively identify performance bottlenecks, cost inefficiencies, and scalability

risks and resolve them at the system level.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience

• Proven ownership of production systems at scale

• Strong understanding of distributed systems and async architectures

• Experience handling production incidents and system reliability

• Ability to independently design and evolve backend systems

• Experience in Core Java, CXF, Spring.
• Experience in spring boot, microservices.
• Extensive experience in developing enterprise-scale n-tier applications for the financial domain. Should possess good architectural knowledge and be aware of enterprise application design patterns.
• Should have the ability to analyze, design, develop and test complex, low-latency client-facing applications.
• Good development experience with RDBMS, preferably Sybase database
• Good knowledge of multi-threading and high volume server side development
• Experience in sales and trading platforms in investment banking/capital markets
• Basic working knowledge of Unix/Linux
• Excellent problem solving and coding skills in Java
• Strong interpersonal, communication and analytical skills.
• Should have the ability to express their design ideas and thoughts.

What you'll do:

· Perform complex application programming activities with an emphasis on mobile development: Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, RESTful APIs and related backend frameworks

· Assist in the definition of system architecture and detailed solution design that are scalable and extensible

· Collaborate with Product Owners, Designers, and other engineers on different permutations to find the best solution possible

· Own the quality of code and do your own testing. Write unit test and improve test coverage.

· Deliver amazing solutions to production that knock everyone’s socks off

· Mentor junior developers on the team

• Experience in either of these Relational DB’s MS SQL Server / PostgreSQL / AWS Aurora DB / MySQL / Oracle / NOSQL DBs (MongoDB / DynamoDB / DocumentDB) in an application development environment and eagerness to switch DB.
• Design database tables, views, indexes
• Write functions and procedures for Middle Tier Development Team
• Work with any front-end developers in completing the database modules end to end (hands-on experience in parsing of JSON & XML in Stored Procedures would be an added advantage).
• Query Optimization for performance improvement
• Design & develop SSIS Packages or any other Transformation tools for ETL

• Banking / Insurance / Retail domain would be a plus.

• The Architect/ Lead Backend Engineer will handle the digital experience from inception to go-live model.
• The role holder is expected to create a vision and roadmap for the digital experience to provide best in class customer experience for each of the product solutions handled.  The role holder will play a critical role in leading the innovation and growth of our front end web and mobile platforms.
• Must be from Good Companies and have been working on high Scale of Traffic
• Proficiency in engineering practices and writing high quality code, with expertise in either one of Java or Groovy or Go.
• 3+ years of experience building microservices.
• Strong experience in architecting and building distributed systems, scalability, and availability
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and designing for performance
• Strong knowledge of cloud technologies like AWS/Google Cloud/Azure
• Good understanding of RxJava or Actors framework
• Proficient with RDBMS
• Strong knowledge on data stores, database design, data modelling and SQL queries
• Extensive experience building and owning large- scale distributed backend systems
• Experience working with three or more of : Unix/Linux environments, Distributed and parallel systems, Workflow automation, CI/CD Platform development, Cloud platforms development e.g. AWS/GCP, Kubernetes/Container platforms based development 

• Strong hands on in Core Java, OOPS, Exception handling, Multi-Threading, Generics and design patterns.
• Proficient in designing and developing web applications using Java/JEE
• Working experience in Spring Boot, Spring Integration and REST Web services
• Exposure to UI technologies/frameworks like JavaScript, React JS , Flux and knowledge of CSS, HTML etc
• Build tools like Maven.
• Should possess good communication skills and a go getter attitude.
