About the Fund
Bottomline Ventures is a ₹20 Crore early-stage fund backing revenue-generating startups in Tier 2 India — cities like Jaipur, Surat, Indore, Coimbatore, and Visakhapatnam that are producing serious businesses the mainstream VC ecosystem keeps overlooking.
We write ₹2–4 Cr cheques at Seed and Pre-Series A into companies with real revenue, strong unit economics, and founders who understand their market from the inside. We are pre-AIF registration and building the fund from the ground up. This hire is the second person on the team.
The Role
This is not a polished corporate job. There is no existing process to plug into, no team to hand things off to, and no brand name to open doors for you. What there is: a clear thesis, a GP who will involve you in every investment decision from day one, and carry tied directly to fund performance.
If you want to learn how a fund is actually built — from sourcing the first deal to structuring the first close — this is the role. If you want a structured environment with defined KPIs and a large team, this is not.
What You'll Do
- Own the top of the deal funnel — identify, reach out to, and qualify founders across Tier 2 cities through accelerators, CA networks, incubators, and direct outreach
- Run first-pass financial diligence: read P&Ls, model unit economics, flag risks and build a view before any GP time is spent
- Write investment memos — clear, short, with a recommendation. No decks, no fluff
- Track the pipeline in Notion/Airtable and keep it clean and current
- Support LP communications and quarterly reporting once the fund is deployed
- Handle day-to-day fund operations: scheduling, follow-ups, data room management, compliance support
- Research Tier 2 startup ecosystems, map sectors, and help build the fund's point of view publicly over time
Who We're Looking For
Must-have
- 1–2 years of experience in transactions advisory (Big 4 / boutique), startup operations, or a related analytical role
- You can read a P&L and have an opinion on it, not just summarise it
- You write clearly. You've produced a memo, a report, or an analysis that someone acted on
- You've done outreach at scale and understand that most people won't respond — and you do it anyway
- You're genuinely curious about Tier 2 India, not just saying so
Nice-to-have
- You have a network in one or more non-metro Indian cities
- You've worked at a startup with fewer than 20 people
- You've read at least one Indian VC firm's annual letter or LP report for fun
- You have a view on why most early-stage Indian funds miss Tier 2 entirely
