Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our Development POD for the Integration Project. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust data pipelines to ingest, clean, transform, and integrate diverse public datasets into our knowledge graph. This role requires a strong understanding of Cloud Platform (GCP) services, data engineering best practices, and a commitment to data quality and scalability.

Key Responsibilities:

• ETL Development: Design, develop, and optimize data ingestion, cleaning, and transformation pipelines for various data sources (e.g., CSV, API, XLS, JSON, SDMX) using Cloud Platform services (Cloud Run, Dataflow) and Python.
• Schema Mapping & Modeling: Work with LLM-based auto-schematization tools to map source data to our schema.org vocabulary, defining appropriate Statistical Variables (SVs) and generating MCF/TMCF files.
• Entity Resolution & ID Generation: Implement processes for accurately matching new entities with existing IDs or generating unique, standardized IDs for new entities.
• Knowledge Graph Integration: Integrate transformed data into the Knowledge Graph, ensuring proper versioning and adherence to existing standards. 
• API Development: Develop and enhance REST and SPARQL APIs via Apigee to enable efficient access to integrated data for internal and external stakeholders.
• Data Validation & Quality Assurance: Implement comprehensive data validation and quality checks (statistical, schema, anomaly detection) to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and freshness. Troubleshoot and resolve data import errors.
• Automation & Optimization: Collaborate with the Automation POD to leverage and integrate intelligent assets for data identification, profiling, cleaning, schema mapping, and validation, aiming for significant reduction in manual effort.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Managed Service POD, Automation POD, and relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related quantitative field.
• Experience: 3+ years of proven experience as a Data Engineer, with a strong portfolio of successfully implemented data pipelines.
• Programming Languages: Proficiency in Python for data manipulation, scripting, and pipeline development.
• Cloud Platforms and Tools: Expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, including Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, Cloud Run, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, and Apigee. Proficiency with Git-based version control.

Core Competencies:

• Must Have - SQL, Python, BigQuery, (GCP DataFlow / Apache Beam), Google Cloud Storage (GCS)
• Must Have - Proven ability in comprehensive data wrangling, cleaning, and transforming complex datasets from various formats (e.g., API, CSV, XLS, JSON)
• Secondary Skills - SPARQL, Schema.org, Apigee, CI/CD (Cloud Build), GCP, Cloud Data Fusion, Data Modelling
• Solid understanding of data modeling, schema design, and knowledge graph concepts (e.g., Schema.org, RDF, SPARQL, JSON-LD).
• Experience with data validation techniques and tools.

About the Role

The Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) is a core member of the development

team, participating across the full development lifecycle. This role translates business and functional

requirements into deliverables, designs and maintains test automation frameworks, and ensures

automated tests are integrated into the continuous delivery pipeline. The Sr. SDET develops high-

quality, maintainable, and performant test code, consults on test automation strategy, and serves as

a leader and coach across teams to influence quality practices and standards

What You’ll Do

 Design, develop, and maintain automation systems and tools to be used by development

and test engineers.

 Analyze code coverage using industry-standard tools (e.g., SonarQube).

 Oversee integration of automated tests into the Continuous Delivery pipeline.

 Design and author test cases for unit, functional, performance, scalability, and durability

testing.

 Manage and groom automated and manual test suites for balanced coverage and fast

feedback cycles.

 Work with IT partner teams to provide, create, or modify test data through repeatable,

automated processes.

 Provide internal training on testing skills and tools; contribute to the Test Community of

Practice to evolve testing practices and standards.

 Lead defect management and interface with external teams on test strategy and execution.

 Ensure requirements and/or user stories are testable and provide estimates for user stories

and tasks.

 Coordinate with Dev and Ops regarding testing practices to ensure quality thresholds are

met.

 Contribute to design and code reviews.

 Perform other duties and projects as assigned by business management.

What You’ll Bring (Must have skills)

 Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.

 4–7 years of experience using three or more development languages (e.g., C#, Java,

JavaScript).

 Any Monitoring or Observability Tools - Splunk, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Prometheus,

Grafana, SolarWinds.

 4–7 years of experience with three or more automation tools (e.g., Selenium, TestNG,

Appium, Sauce Labs, Rest Assured, Postman, Cucumber, Jasmine, Protractor).

 4–7 years of experience with testing methodologies such as Test-Driven Development (TDD)

and Behavior Driven Development (BDD), API Testing, Acceptance Testing, end to end

testing.

 4–7 years of experience using issue-tracking software and Agile project management

systems (JIRA)

 Proficiency with SQL (querying, joins, stored procedures), Knowledge of NoSQL databases

(MongoDB, DynamoDB, etc.) – Any database

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with specialization in Computer science or related field
• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer in a product development setting
• Love of technology and experience with one or more programming languages from Java, Python, or Go
• Experience in full-stack development including designing APIs and integration patterns, implementing security, implementing frameworks for Unit and End-to-End testing
• Experience with micro-services architecture
• Experience in one or more frameworks like Spring, GRPC, Flask, etc.
• Extensive experience in a test-driven development environment
• Understanding of CI/CD practices including code check-in policies, automated unit tests, automated code deployments, etc.
