Desired Skills:
- Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent streams from Top Tier Institutes.
- 3 – 7 years of experience in designing and developing highly scalable, high performance and fault tolerant mobile application products with infrastructure hosted on Cloud
- Proficiency in developing ReSTful APIs, flutter, mobile libraries, Android OS, App Development language (PHP/Kotlin/Java/JavaScript or equivalent)
- Knowledge of Cloud Services, Containers, Databases, disaster recovery, and message queues (Kafka / RabbitMQ) is highly preferable.
- Experience with DevOps and delivering into cloud-based environments using standard CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Artifactory, Spinnaker, SonarQube) and best practices
- Good proficiency in SQL
- Good understanding of database technologies like MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra, etc.
- Sound debugging skills with the ability to identify performance bottlenecks and drive optimization efforts
Good to have:
- Strong experience working with multi-cloud (AWS/GCP/AZURE), Docker, and container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes and Terraform
- Good understanding of observatory tools and logging
- Enthusiasm for open-source contribution
- Previous experience working in an environment with microservices

Role Description
Location - Bangalore / Remote/WFH
This is an equity-only role.
We are looking for a young but mature mindset with highly skilled Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to provide sound technical leadership in all aspects of the business. This person will be added as a Co-founder in the Team.
CTO should be able to take technical decision and having a Strategic thinking mindset with strong business acumen. We expect you to be well-versed in current technological trends and familiar with a variety of business concepts.
You will work directly with the CEO and will act as both a technology and business expert, making decisions that will impact the current and future operations of the company. If you are self-motivated, emotionally strong, enjoy challenges and have a never give-up approach, we’d like to meet you.
CTO / Co- Founder Responsibilities
Lead the technology division with new-age technologies and processes
Build on the vision for the organization by technology
Identify new opportunities and develop products and processes in line with cutting edge technologies
Deploy, develop and implement solutions in a cost-efficient manner
Experience in building scalable products, platforms, and modern technologies
Experienced on the internet/ e-commerce industry, B2B platforms, start-up setups is a plus
Hands-on experience in digital initiatives, big data, mobile apps, AI & ML, analytics, and business intelligence solutions
Ability to convert data into usable modern technology-driven solutions
Experience or knowledge on AWS server side is required
Requirements
B.E / B.tech / Masters Degree in computer science or related field.
6+ years of working in a technological role is preferable but not mandatory
Experience working in an early-stage tech start-up will be a plus
A strong product sense and can build engaging tech for customers
Ability to conduct technological analyses and research
Deep knowledge of full-stack modern development practices (node.js, angular, java javascript, AWS, DS, react, etc.) Can work / learn and work on AI/ML

Ruchi Dogra is a Co-Founder & Director and is in charge of sales and marketing. She has worked for over 15 years across the top 3 logistics/supply chain companies globally. She set-up the hotel, wines and beverages vertical at- Kuehne & Nagel- and- DB Schenker. Her latest assignment was at- DHL Global Forwarding- where she worked as a Vertical Manager for Engineering and Manufacturing; handling top Indian and multinational accounts including several Fortune 100 companies. She brings with her an extensive knowledge in strategy, sales, operations and customer service.

The CTO role is to ensure the successful execution of the company’s business services via the web application. This requires envisioning the company’s service offerings as a web-based business, leading implementation of web applications, and planning for risk and growth.

Compensation:
As this is a new business the compensation is negotiable and we will make an offer depending on the experience of the candidate which will include a salary and ESOP package.
Responsibilities:
In partnership with the company’s founders, identify opportunities and risks for delivering the company’s services as a web-based business, including identification of competitive services, opportunities for innovation, and assessment of marketplace obstacles and technical hurdles to the business success. As our Product is already developed we expect the CTO to work with product development to implement new product features, apply new technologies and set up the engineering and development team to maintain, update and improve the web-application. Some specific responsibilities are listed below:
Strategy, planning, and design:
• Take end-to-end ownership of the product, identify technology requirements, define the future product vision, create preliminary design concepts for add-on modules and shape overall technology and product roadmap by collaborating with the founders, business development, and marketing team.
• Ensure user oriented design is the primary approach to product development across multiple screens, based on user behaviour data and direct customer feedback.
Implementation and deployment:
• Manage Product Release, QA cycles, feature implementation and on time delivery through in-house team and vendors.
• Collaborate with team and customers to define use cases.
• Creation of wireframes/prototypes, site maps and user-flows for web and mobile platforms.
Operational management :
• Support marketing by implementing technical requirements for SEO/product analytics.
• Establish and supervise a quality assurance process, including integration & system testing.
• Rigorously monitor key performance metrics and coordinate with various teams to take corrective actions if needed.
• Establish and forecast ROI of features and succinctly articulate competitive advantage.
• Set-up data collection and analysis system in collaboration with CEO to track key performance.

• Creative self-starter who is comfortable with both taking initiative and working in teams.
• Previous experience working on logistics technology products is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Strong communication skills.

Summary:
Smart Joules is looking for a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to drive the evolution of our technology platform (DeJoule) to make continuous energy optimization simple and profitable at scale. DeJoule is designed on the latest IOT and web technologies to continuously identify and correct for hidden inefficiencies in dynamic energy systems such as air conditioning and compressed air. It 1) collects data in real time from buildings and factories, 2) analyses real time and historical data using heuristic and machine learning algorithms to find hidden energy inefficiencies and optimum set points, and 3) continuously adjusts (controls) set points of various equipment installed in buildings and factories to minimize energy use. We are looking to build new capabilities in data-driven intelligence, user delight, universal compatibility and continuous optimization through full automation.
