Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

Role Summary
The Primary Design Engineer will perform engineering activities to design primary electrical systems/equipment within the HV/EHV electricity grid, switchgears and power plants. This role involves ensuring that projects are executed in accordance with company procedures, contract specifications, and schedule commitments while adhering to international and local quality standards.
Responsibilities include needs analysis, primary system design, conducting site surveys, creation
of the technical documentations and taking the necessary responsibilities as a project design team
member. The role requires collaboration with internal teams, external vendors, and end customers
to ensure seamless integration and functionality of electrical design solutions.
Desired Experience
- A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with specific focus in HV/EHV substations, powerplants and switchgears.
- Prior experience working with utilities in the UK or Europe, providing familiarity with regional regulations and operational practices, which is advantageous for immediate deployment to assignments.
- Knowledge of design tools like AutoCAD for SLD’s, layouts, sectional views, cable schedules, earthing systems.

- Develop and design primary systems for HV/EHV substations and power plants, ensuring reliable operation.
- Prepare the technical design documents, including general arrangement drawing, layouts, single line diagrams, sectional views, panel arrangements, cable schedules , earthing systems and technical specifications.
- Carry out site surveys, collection of the information of the current situation of the existing substations or power plants.
- Present the technical design of the primary system drawings, detailed specification etc. with the customers and stakeholders for approval.
- Possess sufficient knowledge and/or experience to work safely in an HV/EHV substation, adhering to HSE regulations and industry standards such as OSHA or equivalent guidelines to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
- Prepare load lists for auxiliary services such as AC distribution system, DC distribution system and UPS/Inverter distribution system.
- Possess familiarity with industry standards and codes such as IEC, IEEE, and local regulations.
- Demonstrate proficiency in analysis tools like ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or similar software.
- Have substation, power plant and MV switchgear knowledge is mandatory.
- Possess knowledge of load flow analysis and power system.
- Possess knowledge of renewable energy integration, energy storage systems, and smart grid technologies.
- Calculate the equipment sizing such as transformer, diesel generator, cable etc.
- Provide technical support to site teams during construction works to ensure proper functionality within electricity grid.
