About the Role:

Unico Connect is an AI-first technology partner that builds custom mobile, web, and AI products for clients across multiple geographies.

We are hiring a Frontend Engineer who will build production-grade web applications across customer engagements, partnering closely with designers, backend engineers, and AI engineers.

The mandatory requirement for this role is hands-on production experience shipping React applications, with ownership of at least one feature area end to end including state, API integration, and testing.

The role is hands-on.

Expect to implement complex flows, integrate with backend and AI services, contribute to a shared design system, write tests, and review the work of others.

A typical week includes a design handoff review, implementation of a new flow, a code review session, and a working call with a backend engineer on API contracts.

Responsibilities:

Production UI Development

Build production-grade React UI for customer engagements, including complex forms, dashboards, data-dense views, and AI-driven interactions.

API Integration

Integrate with REST and GraphQL APIs.

Handle authentication, streaming responses (Server-Sent Events, WebSockets), retries, and graceful error states.

State Management

Build state architecture using Redux, Zustand, Jotai, or equivalent.

Handle async state, optimistic updates, and cross-component coordination.

Design System Contribution

Implement components within an established design system.

Maintain token discipline and contribute back to shared components.

Testing

Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using Jest, React Testing Library, and Playwright or Cypress.

Performance and Accessibility

Profile and optimise rendering and bundle size.

Apply WCAG 2.1 AA practices in everyday work.

AI-Assisted Development

Use Claude, Cursor, and similar tools day to day.

Build discipline for reviewing and validating AI-generated code.

Requirements:

Hands-on Production React Experience (Mandatory)

Must have personally shipped at least one feature area end to end in a production React application, owning state, API integration, and testing.

POCs and internal tools alone do not qualify.

3 to 5 Years of Professional Frontend Engineering Experience

Strong JavaScript, TypeScript, and React

Solid with hooks, context, and modern patterns.

Working comfort with Next.js (SSR, SSG, app router).

State Management

Production experience with Redux, Zustand, Jotai, or equivalent.

CSS and Styling

Strong with Tailwind, CSS Modules, or CSS-in-JS.

Comfortable building responsive layouts.

REST and GraphQL

Comfortable consuming both.

Working knowledge of streaming responses and async patterns.

Testing Fluency

Jest, React Testing Library, and at least one of Playwright or Cypress.

Git and CI/CD Basics

Comfortable with feature branching, pull requests, and CI-integrated test runs.

Strong Written and Spoken English Communication

Nice to Have:

• Experience with editor or canvas UIs
• Storybook
• Animation libraries (Framer Motion, GSAP)
• Exposure to AI-driven UI patterns
• Visual regression testing tools

About the role

This Frontend role is for someone who wants to own more than feature delivery. You will shape how frontend engineering works here: how product UI is built, how shared components evolve, how standards are set, how architecture decisions are made, and how AI-assisted development is used without compromising quality.

The Reality & The Mission

Our frontend is functional, but it is currently under-owned at the senior level. We are looking for a technical counterpart to partner with our UI engineer. You will focus on three key challenges:

• Systemic Architecture: Creating clear component boundaries and maintainable patterns to reduce technical debt in a fast-paced environment.
• UI Consistency: Maturing our shared component library so that visually complex workflows across our product suite feel polished, friendly, and robust.
• AI-First Guardrails: Designing the linting standards, automated validation, and review practices that allow us to leverage AI coding speed safely without code quality drift.

What You Will Own (Day 1)

• Frontend System Architecture: Define the structural patterns, boundaries, and long-term scalability of our React applications.
• Design-System Maturity: Build, mature, and drive adoption of a proper design-system foundation. Pair directly with our capable UI engineer to draw clean lines between design implementation and component engineering.
• AI-First Standards: Design and enforce code review standards that make AI-assisted velocity safe and sustainable.
• Theming & Variations: Refactor and upgrade shared component libraries to ensure they are reusable, extensible, and natively support brand-wise variations and light/dark modes.
• Technical Direction: Guide the day-to-day technical choices of the frontend team, raising the bar for reuse and execution quality.

Discovered Scope (What you will define)

• We want you to have the autonomy to analyze and build out:
• Frontend Observability: Select and implement the telemetry, error monitoring, and user-facing performance tools needed to keep our products healthy.
• Developer Experience (DX) Tooling: Design internal libraries, linters, or workflows that speed up local development cycles.

• Strong hands-on experience with React JS and JSX.
• Deep fundamentals in modern JavaScript and React state management.
• Experience building, evolving, or maturing design systems and shared component libraries.
• Ability to structure clean API integrations and handle data synchronization.
• A collaborative mindset and a strong eye for visual polish.

• TypeScript
• Frontend observability, performance optimization, or error monitoring tools

Strong Lead – User Research & Analyst profile (behavioural/user/product/ux analytics)

Mandatory (Experience 1): Must have 10+ years of experience in Behavioral Data Analytics, User Research, or Product Insights, driving data-informed decision-making for B2C digital products (web and app).

Mandatory (Experience 2): Must have 6 months+ experience in analyzing user journeys, clickstream, and behavioral data using tools such as Google Analytics, Mixpanel, CleverTap, Firebase, or Amplitude.

Mandatory (Experience 3): Experience in leading cross-functional user research and analytics initiatives in collaboration with Product, Design, Engineering, and Business teams to translate behavioral insights into actionable strategies.

Mandatory (Skills 1): Strong expertise in A/B testing and experimentation, including hypothesis design, execution, statistical validation, and impact interpretation.

• Build pixel-perfect UIs across both mobile platforms.
• Leverage native APIs for deep integrations with both platforms.
• Diagnose and fix bugs and performance bottlenecks for performance that feels native.
• Maintain code and write automated tests to ensure the product is of the highest quality.

• 1- 3 years as a professional software developer.
• Experience with React, React Native and Redux
• Experience with at least one native mobile platform (bonus points if you moved to React Native from iOS or Android development).
• Firm grasp of the JavaScript language and its nuances, including ES6+ syntax. Knowledge in TypeScript is a plus point.
• Knowledge of functional and object-oriented programming.
• Familiarity with native build tools, like Xcode & Android Studio.
• Understanding of REST APIs, the document request model, and offline storage.
