Role Summary

We are seeking top-tier Lead Engineers who can design, build, and deliver large-scale distributed systems with high performance, reliability, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on engineer with expert system design ability, deep understanding of distributed architectures, and strong communication and leadership skills.

The Lead Engineer must be able to convert complex and ambiguous requirements into a fully engineered architecture and implementation plan covering components, data flows, infrastructure, observability, and operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. End-to-End System Architecture

• Architect scalable, reliable, and secure systems from initial concept through production rollout.
• Define system boundaries, components, service responsibilities, and integration points.
• Produce high-level (HLD) and low-level design (LLD) documents.
• Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, security, and cost objectives.
• Make informed design trade-offs with solid technical reasoning.

2. Component & Communication Design

• Break complex systems into independently deployable services.
• Define APIs, communication contracts, data models, and event schemas.
• Apply modern architecture patterns such as microservices, event-driven design, DDD, CQRS, and hexagonal architecture.
• Ensure component clarity, maintainability, and extensibility.

3. Communication Protocol & Middleware

• Design both sync and async communication layers: REST, RPC, gRPC, message queues, event streams (Kafka/Kinesis/Pulsar).
• Define retry/timeout strategies, circuit breakers, rate limiting, and versioning strategies.
• Handle backpressure, partitioning, delivery semantics (at-least/at-most/exactly once).

4. Data Architecture & Storage Strategy

• Architect data models and storage strategies for SQL and NoSQL databases, distributed caches, blob stores, and search indexes.
• Define sharding/partitioning, replication, consistency, indexing, backup/restore, and schema evolution strategies.
• Design real-time and batch data processing pipelines.

5. Operational Readiness

• Define observability (metrics, logs, traces) requirements.
• Collaborate with DevOps to ensure deployment, monitoring, alerts, and incident management readiness.
• Provide production support as a senior technical owner.

6. Leadership & Influence

• Lead technical discussions, design reviews, and cross-team collaboration.
• Mentor engineers and help elevate team practices.
• Influence technology direction and architectural standards.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong backend and distributed systems background.
• Proven track record of leading large-scale architecture and delivery of production systems.
• Expert in system design with the ability to simplify ambiguity and craft robust solutions.
• Strong programming experience in one or more languages (Java, Go, Python, C++).
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, message streaming, queues, RPC/REST, and event-driven architecture.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and container technologies (Kubernetes/Docker).
• Strong communication, documentation, and leadership skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with large-scale messaging/streaming (Kafka/Pulsar), caching, and NoSQL.
• Experience designing for high availability, fault tolerance, and performance at scale.
• Mentoring and leading global engineering teams.
• Familiarity with observability tooling (Grafana, Prometheus, Jaeger). 

• Design and implement effective database solutions and models to store and retrieve company data.
• Examine and identify database structural necessities by evaluating client operations, applications, and programming.
• Assess database implementation procedures to ensure they comply with internal and external regulations.
• Install and organize information systems to guarantee company functionality.
• Prepare accurate database design and architecture reports for management and executive teams.
• Oversee the migration of data from legacy systems to new solutions.

Technical Program Manager Job Description

Amagi is looking to expand its project/program management team responsible for managing end to end development and delivery of various ongoing software development programs and initiatives within Amagi. Responsibilities

• End-to-end ownership of multiple short term and long term product development and delivery initiatives for Amagi's key products

• Articulating and defining program milestones for  successful and timebound completion of initiatives by developing project plans in collaboration with all the stakeholders.

• Enterprise program management : Apart from standard product offerings, for enterprise customers, Amagi offers tighter integration and customization of their workflows over the core product offerings.  In this role you one manage end to end onboarding and going live for such enterprise customers.  This involves 
• Working with pre-sales/sales/onboarding/customer to get the requirements
• Prepare a detailed project plan & track it across teams; keep the stakeholders (Sales, ONB, Customer) updated on status and milestones
• Work with Enterprise Engagement Team in Broadcast Engineering closely to deliver according to the plan

• Developing dashboards and success metrics to provide visibility to various stakeholders.

• Managing one or more programs involving product development initiatives belonging to various categories, like 
• Cutting edge cloud technology intensive SaaS products
• Software solution involving media technology (eg, audio/video streaming) 
• Web frontend and backend related products (built on latest web frameworks)

• Setting up processes, actively participating in improving and maintaining processes for product development and delivery initiatives to enable efficiency across organization
• Based on agile methodologies and project management best practices
• Training and evangelizing the participating teams on agile processes

• Managing executive stakeholders
• Helping the program management team as a whole to publish metrics, dashboards to bring visibility of various programs to the executive team.
• Helping the executive team to take directional calls on new and ongoing programs.

Required Skills:

• Technical Knowledge: The candidate must have a strong technical background and must be well aware of software engineering technology stacks popularly used in technology heavy companies. The candidate must be able to write and present tech heavy documentation.
• Process Knowledge: The candidate must have experience in running process oriented programs and projects, must have knowledge of agile frameworks, and should be able to set up agile processes for existing and new product development initiatives. 
• Data driven acumen: The candidate must be able to do qualitative and quantitative analysis on available data and metrics to take up calls and set directions for the team.
