Software Engineer - Backend

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Python Developer with a strong background in fintech to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have at least 7+ years of professional experience in Python development, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions in the fintech industry.

Responsibilities:

Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs using Django and Django Rest Framework.

Integrate AI/ML models into existing applications to enhance functionality and provide data-driven insights.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other developers, to define and implement new features and functionalities.

Manage deployment processes, ensuring smooth and efficient delivery of applications.

Implement and maintain payment gateway solutions to facilitate secure transactions.

Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior members of the development team.

Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, and evaluate their potential impact on our products and services.

Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for all development processes and integrations.

Requirements:

Proficiency in Python and Django/Django Rest Framework.

Experience with REST API development and integration.

Knowledge of AI/ML concepts and practical experience integrating AI/ML models.

Hands-on experience with deployment tools and processes.

Familiarity with payment gateway integration and management.

Strong understanding of database systems (SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL).

Experience with version control systems (Git).

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Product Overview:

You will be contributing to products concerning both customers and partner drivers.

Product sectors include:

1) Growth: You’ll build tools to help boost user growth on the platform including our industry-best driver onboarding, training and certification system, referral system, and lead management models.

2) Lifecycle Management: Build tools to help users engage with the platform better, which include rewards and recognition modules, subscription services account management tools, partner and customer wallets and payout modules, and churn detection systems among others.

3) Transaction Experience: You’ll help deliver the most delightful booking experience to our customers and drivers. As part of this team, you’ll be responsible for our core booking system, pricing and payment

systems, location tracking and filtering services, fraud prevention systems, and in-app ticketing and support among others.

4) Fulfilment: As part of the fulfillment team, you’ll work on systems that ensure a high degree of ride fulfillment on the platform. Tools include allocation methodologies and systems, dynamic pricing, dynamic partner routing, and partner re-activation tools among others.

5) Enterprise Solutions: You’ll help Porter’s enterprise customers achieve delivery excellence. You’ll build tools for contract management, fleet management, fleet and route optimization tools, alerting and monitoring tools, and analytics suite among others.

Your Qualifications:

 7 to 12 years of experience with majority as Java engineer

 Strong hands on experience on building application using technologies Java, Spring, Hibernate, Maven/Gradle.

 Experience in building Micro Services using Spring Boot / Go.

 Strong knowledge and experience with SQL queries and databases like Postgre SQL/Oracle.

 Strong knowledge and experience on Platform components such as Docker, Kubernetes and Service Mesh (Istio).

 Good knowledge of scripting languages (preferably Python and Bash)

 Familiarity with CI/CD environment (Jenkins).

 Experience on Observability stack such as ELK Stack, Prometheus & Grafana would be added advantage.

 Should have experience on Active MQ based async queuing system design and deployment.

 Strong experience of system design and implementation of end-to-end integrated systems.

 Familiarity with Hazelcast and Zk Solution would be a plus.

 Strong skills to write technical design documentation.

 Experience of leading a team as tech lead.

 Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.

 Good communication skills with tech/non-tech people.

What You'll Do:

 Assigned to software development projects and/or system enhancements as tech lead.

 Be engaged in a whole process of development project (requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing/verification, deployment, operation/maintenance).

 Work closely with project manager and other engineers. Some of them are in different locations such as Japan and Singapore.

 Always improve the design quality, code quality, testing quality and system quality spontaneously. In addition, create such a culture in our team.

 Understand business needs and user behavior and develop solutions to those needs.

 Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our systems and propose system improvements.

 Guide and support less-experienced members as mentor and role model to improve the team productivity and achieve team’s goals together.

 Familiarity with Telecom Service Provider’s Billing Ecosystem/BSS Systems.

 Familiarity with and experience on Cloud Native Technologies.
